Hi. My little baby boy Angus Jr is not sleeping at home, but was sleeping in the hospital? What is wrong: does he like it at the hospital or does he just not cooperating with me?? Thanks Katelyn

Babies like to hear all the noise of the household and they really are not used to quiet, so just go about your house with the t.v. on and the vacuuming being done. If he doesn't sleep, could you get a sling and he will love to be near your skin and hear your heartbeat, as you go about your housework or even sitting on the couch. I am sure he will sleep in the sling and listen to the household noise.

I used to place a small radio near my sons head turned down low but with a bit of noise so he was used to noise, the radio can also be off frequency as apparently this can imitate the noises from the womb, like pp bubs is most likely used to the noise light etc from hospital, goodluck

First off, congratulations on the birth of your new baby boy
Right now, everything is all new and overwhelming for him. If you've ruled out all the obvious problems (dirty nappy, hungry, hot/cold etc) you could try wrapping him up and laying him on your chest or holding him in a sling close to you - being near you is his security right now. Crooning to him softly while rocking him in your arms in a semi-dark room is also a good option if he is over-tired or over-stimulated. The first few days at home can be really tough as they adjust to the new environment. Try not to take it personally, he will settle in soon enough. |

Not sure how long you were in hospital, but babies can be really sleepy for the first few days, he is probably just waking up now you are home.
Have you got a bassinet you can rock back and forth, or bring the pram in the living room and rock that back and forth over a bump (like the edge of a rug)? That worked for me when I had had enough of wearing him. |

The only way DD would sleep for the first 2 or 3 months were if I'd wrapped her quite tightly and then put her in the sling until she was asleep.
In the colder months, an idea is to put a wheat bag in the cot/bassinet just to warm the blankets, then take it out when you put baby to bed. Congrats on your new baby! |

Most newborns are sleepy for a few days and then they start waking up.... just hold him close and plenty of time at the breast to bring your milk in ( if your bf)
