I was having a conversation with a few other mums about what's for dinner tonight. I said it's 'lazy dinner night' so the kids are having corn on the cob. The reaction was "What? Just corn on the cob?"

Yep, I don't feel like cooking on Sunday nights so it's usually baked beans, dipping eggs or cheese toasties etc. I guess this is a bit of a tradition carried on from my own mum - and we totally loved corn on the cob nights!

Seriously, were the raised eyebrows warranted? My boys are both average weight, active, healthy kids but they're not huge eaters, more the grazer types.

Does anyone else do 'lazy dinners' these days??

We have a lazy night after one of my work nights. They have egg on toast or sandwiches and ice cream. Doubt the corn would be enough for mine

i must admit that my reaction to corn on the cob was that it would not be enough. However, dipping eggs, thats a thought! Next lazy dinner it will be dipping eggs!

Lazy dinners are fine but just corn? Personally I would be starving and I can't imagine it would enough for growing kids.

My thought too would be is that all, as my kids would need about 7 corn on cobs to fill them up.

Our lazy dinners are eggs on toast or the sinfully bad 2 min noodles. I have been known to feed them icecream cake for dinner once, and if we have drinks we all may have dip and chips for tea.

Thurs are lazy dinner as we don't get home till 6.30 so if I have not prepared something earlier it is easy dinner or takeaway.

We very often have 'breakfast for dinner' here, so we would get some eyebrows raised too I think. Porridge/oats is an excellent winter lazy dinner here.

We are the same as PP's in that corn by itself would be nowhere near enough for my 2 and we would have to add something to it. Probably chicken kebabs or sausages or something like that. Oh, chicken nibbles (honey soy or BBQ) are also a good 'lazy' night meal

Every weekend is have what you want, Fridays and Saturdays! Mostly because;

1. we don't know if we are going to be home, going to a bbq, whatever.
2. I refuse to cook 7 nights per week, I need a break too!
3. it means we save $$ by eating something out of the cupboard like tins of spaghetti/baked beans, noodles, toasties, nuggets, sausage rolls, sanga etc.
4. It is also two nights I don't have to stress about whether the kids will eat this meal!
5. Sometimes its takeaway.

Corn on the cob would not be enough for my kids! Even my fussy, barely eats 4yo. When asked, they usually want simply toast or a sandwich. Love our easy nights.

We had a lazy dinner of baked beans on toast a few days ago. I usually have to keep putting DS back at the table. Instead he sat there and ate a huge plate of baked beans and 2 pieces of toast!
