Warning..pg mentioned..
DH & I were referred to FS after failing to fall PG after 12 months of trying. We were another couple with unexplained fertility. Long & short our journey was 8 cycles of IVF & no PG. Our doctor at the follow up appointment said to us that there was nothing further they could do for us & couldn't understand why we hadn't fallen PG, even if it did result in a mc. Two years later we fell PG naturally & 18 months ago, we had our second baby, again naturally conceived. So, definately seek a 2nd opinion. We were older than U guys so if everything seems to he in working order, trust yourself & your body. I sincerely wish you the best of luck xx |

We were officially diagnosed as "unexplained" with our first FS. We did 2 years of treatments with him - 6 IUI, 4 IVF and 1 FET - all BFN.
The entire two years, I asked repeatedly about checking for endo and he refused every time. He said even if I did have it it wouldn't make any difference. After 2 years we switched to a different FS, who happens to specialise in endo. Within 5 mins of meeting me, he agreed I probably had it and would not do any treatments without first doing a lap. The lap showed stage III endo and he removed as much as he could. We did IVF#5 (first with him) 2 months later and that gave us DD. In our case, "unexplained" meant "insufficiently investigated". But, for others, it can just mean "unlucky" because there truly is nothing wrong. A second opinion can't hurt. GL with your future TTC. |

Also want to add to my previous post- endo was also found and removed at my laparoscopy ( I had absolutely no symptoms) and I conceived straight after that. Definitely demand a laparoscopy!

Hi
Have you had a Hycosy by any chance? I had one in dec last year and fell that cycle. They said my tubes were clear but they hycosy sometimesx just gives them a clean out which helps with conception. Worked for us. It might for you too. Good luck!

Wow, really good feedback ladies, thanks. Um, to answer some of your questions, FS had us do 4 IUIs, 2 unstimulated, 1 stimulated and 1 cancelled.
During that time, I went to see a naturopath for 9 months. She said my hormones were unbalanced, but I don't think she had much experience with fertility, so I stopped after no results. I then went to see highly recommended acupuncturists who are absolutely brilliant. They were both nurses in a previous life and familiar with our fertility centres, FS and procedures. After my first meeting with them, she said that it's most likely my lining isn't thick enough to carry a pregnancy because I had very short periods (2-3days). The first time I've been told anything that makes sense to me. They have been so helpful during my first IVF cycle, which I'm currently going through now. I'm hoping that if something does go wrong with this cycle, that it may indicate where the problems may be? And might find more answers? Obviously I'm really hoping that there's a BFP...but if not... It's really interesting all the stories about endo, but showing no symptoms of it at all. Haven't had a lap done either. But I will definitely keep those in mind when looking for a new FS. I'm quite keen to try other tests and methods, just not quite sure where to start. Thanks again. |

Hi MsConception
I had problems for years being in the too hard basket for doctors until I saw my naturopath and had success quite quickly. Stay strong and don't get stressed out with the whole process. My naturopath Fiona Rattur does wonders as I was a complete nervous reck when I first started seeing her. Find someone you are comfortable with (naturopath, herbalist, counsellor) and get some support as the process can be crazy for some of us. Good Luck |
