hi ladies,

First of all Congratulations to all the mums to be original.gif original.gif

I am 6 weeks pregnant (got to know this weekend... Yaaayy!! ) and I am in search of a good Obstetritian in WCH, ashford or Calvery in adeliade. I know people say to choosed ob first and then the hospital... I am fine either ways but want to make sure I dont end up travelling when my waters break... so want it to be close to my home. I live in Mawson lakes in adelaide... Any suggestions please... original.gif

thanks.

I live in the northern suburbs of Adelaide too, and am a bit confused by your list of hospitals, as none of them are particularly close to Mawson Lakes. Lyell McEwan would be the closest public hospital I think, and there are several private hospitals closer than Calvary (I'm assuming you mean Calvary in North Adelaide - it's where I had my first but too far to go this time around).
I'm due in April and delivering at North Eastern Community (private) this time. It's nice and close to us on Lower North East Rd. Feel free to PM me if you would like Ob details.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!!

I live down south so going to Flinders Private but that will be too far for you. I heard great things about Ashford, also Burnside, as maternity hospitals. Ashford have a programme whereby if you have an uncomplicated birth you can transfer to the Hilton for your 5 day stay which can be great. The only thing though Ashford has the highest rate of c-sections in the whole of Adelaide, but then again it is high in most private hospitals compared to public! original.gif

The first thing you need to decide is if you want to go public or private - the WCH is a public hospital, although you can be a private patient there (but most OBs that deliver there also work at a private hospital).
NECH is fantastic and much closer to you - my SIL has had 2 high risk pregnancies there but cant for the life of me think of her OB's name original.gif Otherwise, the Lyell Mac has a great maternity program and is a public hospital.
I went though the WCH with my first to test the waters, and loved everything about my care (pre & post natal) so going back there again original.gif

Also agree...need to decide private or public. Im going half ways. I have a private obst (Anna Bof who is fantastic) but am delivering at Lyell Mac (which in my opinion is as nice as any private hospital)

I had my first baby at ashford and found the whole time there to be brilliant. I am going there again and my ob is at ashford specialist centre. I had many complications during my pregnancy and got the best advice and care and couldn't speak more highly of my experience so thats why we're going back! PM me if you want names or more details.

HI OP, I am not due anymore but saw this, and see if Dr Munday is available, he works through Calvary which is wonderful (slightly biased as my mum wors there and we were all born there)

We delivered with Dr Anna Bof at NECH and could not have been happier with her service. In our opinion, she's one of the best there is and you can really tell that she has the respect of her staff and patients.

Mum to two
Hi OP.
I had Dr Ian Jones for my two pregnancies and he is fantastic. I had my daughter at WCH with him as my ob and then my son at Ashford. I know he also delivers at Calvery.

Good luck with your pregnancy original.gif
