Hi, new to site. Having twins in May, Fraternal and don't know the sexes. Could be any combination. Have a 3yr old who will turn 4 in April, so awhile since baby stage. Worried about trying to feed together and sleep together, any pointers? Think you have everything, then told it's twins and you basically have nothing and have to start again. Finding a Double pram that accomodates two babies, not a baby and toddler are hard to find and very expensive. Already had to buy a new car as need to fit car booster seat and 2 capsules across back seat. More stressed than excited, feel guilty. If anyone has any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Hi and congrats on your twins... We have 2 sets of twins in our May DIG, and one of those ladies is having her second set! I will point them towards your post to see what advice they can give you. There is also the Multiples section further down in specialised pregnancy support groups. I'm sure the ladies in there would be able to help with advice. All the best

Congratualations on expecting twins. I am expecting my 2nd set (naturally conceived) and am still a bit nervous so as a first timer I can understand your worries. I am about to have 5 in 5 1/2 years (my twins are 5, my toddler 18 months). Both sets have been fraternal - am having girls this time. The main thing to remember is that you are only given as much as you can handle! I am happy to answer any questions/queries you may have but I am not an expert just someone who has been there before!!

With feeding it depends on whether you are going to breastfeed or bottle feed- with breast you can do the football hold and have 1 on each breast or if that is difficult just feed one and put another in a swing or rocker. With bottle take it in turns to nurse one whilst the other lies next to you on the couch so both your hands can hold a bottle.


With clothes - I think dont buy double buy 1 1/2 lots - I bought double the amount of clothes suggested for 1 baby and think it was too much so now I am just buying 1 1/2 lots.

The things i will double up on is swings/rockers, dummies (if using), wraps etc. My boys had separate bassinets but didn't sleep every well when not together so they shared a cot for the first 4 months or until they could roll over - I just put one at one end and the other at the other end and had them in sleeping bags. I plan on doing that with my twin girls.

Twin prams can be expensive but if you check out Target, Big W or K-Mart they usually have reasonably priced twin prams.

Please don 't beat yourself up about being more stressed than excited - as far as I am concerned perfectly normal response.

The closer it gets and the more you have sorted - the happier you will feel and when the twins are 6 months you will be wondering why you were so stressed. If you would feel better you can always pm as well.

Hey ladies,

I am 34 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins. This is my first pregnancy so I really don't know what to expect. I don't know the genders either because my husband loves having the surprise.

This last trimester seems to be going sooo slow. Mostly because of the anxiety.

Our friends recently had their little girl at 34 weeks. She was due 5 days before our twins. So this has heightened my anxiety about the possibility of having premmies.

Do you ladies have any advice about how to make each day go quicker? There are only so many puzzle books I can complete!

If only we had a magic wand to make those days go quicker - I am also 34 weeks with my 2nd set of twins and feel like time is dragging by but I have my other twins (5 years of age) and my toddler (20 months) which seem to keep me busy - only things I can suggest are making sure you have everything organised as the first few weeks will probably be the hardest, have lots of meals in the freezer, have hosptial bag packed, baby clothes all washed and put away etc, catch up with as many friends and family that you can as sometimes can be hard to get out for the first month or so, perhaps join a multiple birth assoc near you and go along to one of their playdates/morning teas where you can ask any questions or see multiples in action - thats all I can think of.


Anxiety is completely understandable but babies born at 34 weeks generally do well - may be in NICU for a couple of weeks to stablise breathing etc. I think the worst thing is to stress about going early (I know easier said than done).
