I am having lunch at a Japanese restaurant today.
I think they have Bento boxes and I'm hoping other options for cooked food. Is there anything I should be avoiding? I haven't had any Asian take out food throughout my pregnancy purely because I can't be bothered nit picking through what I can and can't have. Thanks!!! |

Yeah you need hot food, I'd avoid tuna and mayo as well.

Sushi is a big no no (it's the cold rice that does it) so I'd be getting smoething hot and fresh.
That said I know a lot of women who happily at it without any dramas so it's up to you |

Yes, go for something cooked.
Clearly sushi & sashimi would be out if you are following the gudelines for avoiding listeria in this country. I can't remember what it is called but there is something cooked that you dip in raw egg - I would avoid that too. |

I had Japanese a few times whilst pregnant, I'm vegetarian though so the options for me were a bit easier as I wouldn't have eaten any raw fish anyway which of course is a big no no. I just stuck with vegetable tempura and (hot) plain rice if I felt like something else with the tempura. I didn't eat the vegetarian sushi option in case the had a sauce in them that might not be good

I had it while pregnant. Go for a hot dish, maybe something sizziling or a stir fry

Hey OP
As others have said something hot is always good (as long as they cook it fresh) I however did have handrolls (and mine did rice paper rolls) however I would go to this place almost every day and it was either very fresh when I bought it (ie I saw them putting the new rolls out) or they would make it fresh for me. (The place I went to had a big turn over and I had been going for a long time before I got pregnant) |
