Hi Mums,

I have been looking into prams for my toddler (will be nearly 3 when baby #2 is born) and newborn. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I was looking at the skateboard option for my toddler but have read a few reviews that say they are a gimic as the toddler just jumps off all the time!

I was looking at the Strider Plus but they look so wide and big with both seats attached!

Advice would be appreciated.

I have a Valco Baby Rebel Q pram and have just ordered a toddler seat for when my new baby is born (DS will be 20 months then). I have loved this pram, converts into a stroller, so hoping this works for us!

I'm afraid I cannot help much except to say that I too have seen a lot of negative info on the skateboard option.

I have the Phil & Teds Sport with the double kit which is great.

This time round though we bought the Mountain Buggy Duet for the newborns and I'll have to get a skateboard option for my now 15 month old. My 3 year old will have to walk or scoot.

I'm hoping to carry one of the twins for a few months so that I don't have to use the skateboard straight away. If he doesn't change his poor road sense by then I will have to tie him to the pram. He cannot be trusted!!

I have the Phil and Teds Vibe which I absolutely love - easy one handed sterering and lies flat - 16 month DS still sleeps in it whn we are out for his afternoon nap! I also have the toddler attachment. Not sure if this model is still avail as Phil and Teds have released so many new ones since I got mine in 2010.

Phil and Teds used to be one of the only brands that had the option to get a todler seat (if you didn't want a twin pram) but now I think there are so many more options out there... I think Mountian buggy do one and it is quite slim line too?

Maybe just go to a baby shop and see what you like?

The strider plus is wide. I have a BJ city select which is similar but not so wide (and better quality) so that is an option.

I have heard good and bad reviews of the phil and teds prams, but I think they are a good option for a toddler and a newborn. Mountain buggy has brought out a new pram - the +one which looks good too.

I think alot of the prams with add on toddler seats are a little impractical. My SIL has the valco rebel Q and it is a fantastic pram as a single, but with toddler seat she finds it difficult. SHe had a 17month gap between kids and whilst the toddler seat is easy to use, if you want to recline it for the toddler to sleep then you have almost no access to the newborn underneath as the toddler is laying right above the baby with only a few cm clearance. It also only has a weight limit of 15-18kg and wouldn't be suitable for a toddler your age. She is already buying a double pram to replace the rebel now that her older is almost 21 months

I just bought a phil & teds explorer. Baby bunting has (or had) them on sale for $499 including toddler seat. My DD will be 2 exactly when the baby arrives. So far we have been using it in single mode and will attach the toddler seat when the baby is here.

It seems very good, well made and pushes well so far. It folds up fairly compactly and fits in the boot of our hatch - one of the reasons we couldn't go with a lot of the double prams was that they all were huge when folded and wouldn't fit in our boot!

It has mixed reviews online, lots of complaints about the hood coming off when you fold it. I haven't needed to fold it as we just use it for local walks and have a little stroller for out and about in the car, but I can see how the hood could pop off because it just sort of clips on. Anyway, hasn't been a problem for us.

Sorry I can't give you any advice about how it works with two kids as we haven't tried it that way yet.

But I found the best thing was to go to a big baby shop and just look at them all and work out what suits you.
