Hi everyone waves.gif , I’m just new here and after some opinions and suggestions on the list of names my husband and I have come up with so far. This is my first pregnancy but the baby will be our second child, a sibling for Stella so we would like something that goes nicely with her name. Any suggestions of first/middle name combinations would be good too, our surname is 3 syllables beginning with R and ending in K.

babyboy.gif

Hamish

Elliot

Oliver

Declan

Tobias

Finlay

Marcus

Lachlan

Julius

Harrison

Quinn

Brady

Elias

Ethan

Roman

Raphael

Emmeline

Emilia or Emelia

Lucille or Lucia or Luciana

Madeleine

Eva

Eloise

Eliza

Xanthe or Xanthia

Juliette

Philippa

Liliana

Georgette or Georgiana

Lara or Clara or Zara

Tessa

Priya

Portia

Thank you biggrin.gif

I love Stella! I like nearly everything on your lists too. My favourites are:

babyboy.gif

Elliot (though probably not with Stella because of the 'ell' sounds)
Tobias
Julius (love Julian even more)
Roman (I have slowly been getting over the association with Roman Brady from DOOL and coming to like this name)
Raphael

babygirl.gif

Emmeline
Eva
Xanthe
Juliette (any chance of Juliet? I prefer that spelling)
Clara (but I do like Lara and Zara too)

Seeing you have Juliette and Liliana have you considered Juliana? Sort of a combination between the two and I think it's beautiful.

Combinations:

Tobias Elliot
Roman Elliot
Julius Elliot (I'm sure you can see where I'm going here, I think Elliot would make a great middle name even though I wouldn't use it as a first with Stella. Oliver would also make a great middle name for any of those 3.)
Raphael Julius
Raphael Marcus
Raphael Declan

Xanthe and Juliette are the two I think sound particularly good with Stella.
Xanthe Clara or Lara
Eva Juliette or Juliette Eva
Clara Emmeline or Emmeline Clara
Eva Madeleine
Emmeline Clara

So many great possibilities!

Wow - I have to say that I love a lot of your names. wub.gif

Here's a ranking of the ones that I love the most:

Hamish

Elliot

Oliver

Finlay

Marcus

Lachlan

Julius - I do prefer Julian though

Harrison

Ethan

Lucille

Eloise

Xanthe

Juliette

Liliana

Georgette or Georgiana

I think Eva, Lara, Clara and Zara are all nice, but sound a bit too similar to Stella.

Hamish Declan would be my pick of the boys, I think. Tobias Elliot or Marcus Elliot are also not too shabby. Julian would do much better in my running than Julius can but that's pure personal bias.

I have a weird split of loving or hating a number of the boys names.

Emmeline is great, not as fond of Emilia or Emelia simply for the overlap combo with all the Emilys and Emmas AND all the Amelias.

I really like Georgiana, Liliana, and Philippa, but am not sure I'd match them to any of these middles. So many -a endings and those that aren't are quite long?

Girls combos I can make:

Juliet(tte if necessary but I like Juliet) Xanthe
Zara Emmeline
Philippa Emmeline
Georgiana Madeleine

I love Emilia spelt like this - so pretty.
And I think it goes nicely with Stella.
As for boys names, Declan and Stella would be a great sibset.
Other names I like from your lists:
Roman
Finlay
Oliver

Juliet (spelt like this)
Eloise
Philippa (nn pip/pippa)

Have you considered Micah for a boy?

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Just to answer some things and a few questions...

Thanks for noticing Stella and Elliot sounding too similar, I see that now too. We already crossed off a lot of names for being too similar but just must have missed it.

We can't use Julian as there is already one in the family but we think Julius or Juliette would still be fine to use. Maybe not? We had considered Juliana but it might be a bit too similar to Julian so crossed it off?

With Juliette, we both just prefer this spelling and have never really considered spelling it Juliet. Is Juliette wrong or something?

Also just thinking now, is it fine to have an R first name and an R surname?

More middle name suggestions are welcome too.
