He was a beautiful loving 23 year old man that wanted nothing more than to find someone to love him and have a future together.

He had a history of mental illness, with four alarming suicide attempts in the last 18 mths. The last one was New Years Eve. Apparently he was assessed and it was decided that he was not at any immediate danger to himself and didn't need to be admitted. Less than two weeks later, last night, he ended his life.

He needed help so desperately and didn't get it. He had just finished his physiotherapy degree and was due to graduate next week. He had so much to live for but just couldn't cope anymore.

I'm angry at the public mental health system because I need someone to blame. My heart is breaking that my beautiful little brother won't see his nephew (my 2 yr old DS who adored him) grow up and that he will never meet my little girl who is due in 3 1/2 months.

I miss him so much already. Life is never going to be the same.

I hope you found the peace you were looking for little brother, I love you xxx

Oh Katie I am so sorry for your loss. As someone who also has a sibling bouncing in and out of the mental health system in WA I can sympathise with your anger. Something needs to be done to help people in need in this state.

I am so sorry.

I'm so sorry for your loss nno.gif
I couldn't read and not reply. My brothers mean the world to me. I don't always understand how they think, but I would be devastated if any of them chose that option.
Sorry

I don't belong in this section, but couldn't not post after reading this.

I'm so sorry you are going through this, such a loss.

I think it's natural to feel angry, it sounds like he was crying out for help but couldn't find it.

Please take care, of you, your little boy and your pregnancy.

take care xoxo

So sorry Katieface. What heartbreaking news.

I too hope that more can be done for those with mental illness as I have several people in my life that struggle with this very real illness and I worry and stress that one day they too will fall victim to this devastating illness.

So sorry about your beloved brother and uncle to your son and daughter. I pray that he is in peace.

xx
