So I think I can give up freaking out at every twitch and pain. Pain I had at weekend was definitely gas, so bad!

2nd blood test came back good with rising HCG as I had hoped! Am 7 weeks but think EDD will be confirmed at scan.

First scan will be at 11 weeks for NT screening. Dr has given me research homework for a referral for an OB.

Definitely not telling anyone till 12 weeks.

If you go to the Hospitals websites there is a list of names and numbers, some have websites, give them a call and they will give you price info too. Also depending on which end of the North Shore you are on I heard the San is very good and possibly a little less $.I hope that helps

Hi ejfingerscrossed,
I was thinking the same, but it's good to talk to someone else about it! especially in this phase with so many decisions and not so many people knowing to help! I have rang some OBs for rates and am deciding now which one to go with DH. I initially chose the Mater, but most of the OBs I rang also practice at the North Shore Private. I haven't checked on the San yet, where is that one (pardon my ignorance!)
Thanks for writing back!!!!

Hi Everyone, I haven't posted for a week though I have been avidly reading everyone else's posts - it is so reassuring to hear the thoughts and feeling of others at the same stage!

Few quick refs to others recent posts:Doggles - I want a dating scan so badly - hoping that when I visit the Dr on Wednesday that I can convince her to let me get one, even though I'm pretty sure on my dates and all seems to be going along pretty normally so far. Just wanna see the Bean to know its defo there and in the right spot!
Hope_fully - Glad to hear your cramps are easing up now, I had the same cramps / bloating / gasy type feeling all of last week and started to get really worried but it seems to have subsided for now and no other worryingf symptoms so I'm feeling good now.
futureself - Welcome to the back half of September! tthumbs.gif

It has been a big week for me too. The Australia Day BBQ at a friends house DH and I went to was really hard because I wasn't drinking (I did pretend for a bit - carried around a half empty beer for a few hours LOL) and after a while it was pretty obvious to my friends (they know we were TTC) that something was up. Got asked a few times if I was PG and denied it. unsure.gif The problem is that all our social occasions with friends atm seem to involve drinking / pub, etc so I feel that I will have to either avoid most things or have to fess up to everyone. But I don't want to tell anyone (friends or family) till 12 wks. I am just going to try and suggest a few healthier day time activities - markets, beach (if it ever stops raining!), etc. And continue to deny everything until I am ready to tell!

That's it for now. Have more to write but don't want to bombard you with too much at once and bore you all! Hope you all have an excellent week!! eexcite.gif

Hi All,
I had my dating scan yesterday and saw the heartbeat for the first time.... I almost cried, I was so relieved, so officially my due date is 19 September, I also had my last appointment with my fertility specialist, so now it's onwards and upwards.
Gal3 the San is in Wahroonga, it's a massive totally private hospital, depending where on the North Shore you live, it might be more convenient. I also tossed up between the Mater and NSP, at the end of the day I went with NSP based on 2 things. Firstly that my OB is based at NSP so he will be able to visit more easily before and after giving birth and the second is that if, god forbid, there should be anything wrong with the little bundle of joy they get transferred to north Shore, but they don't transfer the mum, the thought of being separated was a bit much for me! However the high tea served at the Mater was pretty tempting and if its good enough for the Murdochs and the Packers I'm sure its okAt the end of the day they are both fantastic hospitals

Hi Everyone,

I am finally going to take the plunge & say waves.gif .

I have been lurking around since i got my BFP a couple of weeks ago, but after an early loss late last year, I am nervous about doing anything ti jinx myself.

I have been having small amounts of symptoms, but today they seem to have eased off. I am hoping that this is not a bad sign. I am happy to be struck with nasty MS right now, just so I can ease my mind that all is going well. Has anyone else had symptome that come & go? worrying me a little bit

I have my first Dr appointment tomorrow, as she has been away & i hadnt been able to get in with anyone until now, & am hoping for repeat blood tests so I can see how my levels are going, last time very low levels & not rising was the give away that it was not meant to be. Also hoping to get a early scan referal for early next week to see our little monkey.

Will have a better read tonight, hope everyone is going well.

Nezzy - not sure if this will work for you. But when we go out to BBQs, bars etc, we now drive there (even though we usually take public transport), or at least drive to the closest train station. Then I just say I'm not drinking because I'm driving. I never drink a drop when I'm driving so people tend to accept that and not ask any more questions.

Also, on Australia Day we were at a house party and I was drinking lemon lime bitters, which looked the exact same colour and fizziness as the sparkling 'pink' champagne others were drinking. So it didn't look like a soft drink at all.

I'm jealous of everyone's scans. I saw the Dr in wk 4 (when I found out) then she said to come back in wk 10. How come some people get early scans and others don't? I guess it depends on the way the GP works. I just want to see the little bean too - to prove there's something there!

We told both sets of parents at the weekend. Both were very pleased for us. My parents especially as it means they can plan a trip to Australia at the end of this year!

Hi ladies,

Hope everyone is travelling along nicely original.gif

hope_fully I have been having the same problem with gas. I am so bloated that I easily look 4 months pregnant lol!

In regards to telling family & friends I had decided to wait till after my 11 week bloods and 12 week scan before telling siblings, friends, boss, etc. However I had planned on telling our parents around 10 weeks. Then I realised if something were to go wrong I would really need support from my mum so I spoke to DP and he was dead against telling anyone yet. He is so worried something will go wrong and he understood my point about wanting support should that happen but it's his perspective that we should support each other. It's a tough one but I told him I wouldn't tell anyone yet. I already feel attached to our bub and I think DP is trying really hard not to get attached until we know that bub is in the right spot and healthy (DP's friend's wife recently had an early miscarriage and her husband was quite blunt about it and told DP in the early stages it happens all the time! - so insensitive!). So basically we will wait until 12 weeks before we tell anyone, even our parents (also no one except one close friend who lives far away knows that we were TTC). Its going to be so difficult because over the next 6 weeks we have my sisters birthday, a girls weekend away with my mum and sisters and a party at my MIL (which my parents will also be at). All will involve ridiculous amounts of celebrating and champagne, it's going to be hard to not look suss lol.

The only really routine scan is at 19-20 weeks to check the anatomy of the baby. A lot of people have one around 12 weeks now for the nuchal screening test. Anything other than that is cream original.gif People with a history of eptopic or previous miscarriage might be referred for one, as will people unsure of dates. But its certainly not needed or routine, so you're not missing out! My gp wrote a form for one, but I decided we could wait until we see my OB in a few weeks rather than pay for one now.

We've only told a few people- our parents and my best friend. We don't want Hannah to know until we know everything is ok (well, as much as you can) so we'll wait for a scan and heartbeat to tell Hannah and then tell the whole world original.gif
