And another one to the list! No idea how people work this out in time to book into anyone, especially if as I hear 6 weeks becomes too late!

Another one who loved FPH & the BF room their, the maternity rooms were quiet. Carpet in hallways and rooms helps, and i felt very comfortable, nurses were very helpful. I went through one of the 2 doctors groups that had only female Ob's. A great system, you see one Ob for your care, but also see the other 3/4 Obs once each during the months before you are due, so if you go into labour after hours/weekend you know the Ob thats covering for your Ob and you know it will be a female - something that was important to me.
I went into labour on a weekend and saw all but my Ob over the weekend (it was my Ob's weekend off) They were great. The midwives were also. Even though we ended up with an emergency c-section, at no time did i feel pressured or worried about my care. FPH lists all docs that work out their hospital on their website. It's pretty easy to work out which doctors work together, they all have the same website and address! Oh and they are female!!!! Mine was not cheap i think it was $4000 out of pocket 2 years ago, i picked her for her experience. Unfortunately we are no longer in a position to go private this time so i am going down stairs to the women's. If we had the money i would be going back to FPH with the same Ob. I do think that my positive experience has made it easier for me to go with the flow for the 2nd one and be happy going public this time. First time around i was all stressed about everything going well and getting BFing well established. I now feel pretty confident with the BFing, and don't want to be away from my son for too long so a shorter stay is ok with me. PM me if you would like to know the name of the Ob i saw or which of the 2 groups i went with. |

I had my DD at FPH 2 years ago and hated the place. My ob was fab, but I would never go back to the hospital.
I ended up with an emerg cs late at night. My DH was sent out of the OR with DD about half an hour after her birth, as things were not going well for me. He was left ALONE with a brand new baby in the ward for an hour, not knowing what was happening to me, or what to do with a baby. He asked 2 different nurses who were walking by, both said they would find out, neither came back. He assumed that I had died. This has still left him traumatized to this day, and is one of the reasons he refuses to have #2. Once I returned to the ward, DH was provided with a fold out bed. The mattress was worn down so badly, it had no padding left, and he was sleeping on metal bars. He moved to the floor, which was freezing. No sleep for DH that night, and we had been awake since 1am the previous day. The room was freezing cold every night. We got my parents to bring in extra donnas as the crappy blankets were pathetic. Never again. This post has been edited by lucky 2: 06/09/2012, 09:44 PM
