Shtinky - So glad to hear the girls are doing well.

Our world is like Shtinky's ....breast pump, NICU, older kids at home, feed time, bed!! Are adorable friends have all put a roster together for the next three weeks to mind our other kidlets so I can spend time at the NICU and not worry about them. Meals just seem to arraive at our doorstep and our washing just gets done by well meaning family.

Lucia is doing very well. Her specialist told me she's boring now and not the biggest trouble maker in the NICU so all massive positives. Although still on CPAP she isn't requiring any oxygen and is being slowly weaned off. On Sunday they removed all three of her drip lines so she now only has an IGT in her mouth for her Mummy Milk. She is on 11 mls every 2 hours and on quite a high dose of calories to fatten her up as well as her daily caffeine shot to help her lungs get big and strong.

My boobs are out of control like all my other bubbas I have a massive supply. I express about 120-150mls each time. I have so much milk that I was advised to start giving some to our 18mth old (by bottle) and funnily enough she is loving it all over again.

Anyway, we have one foot in front of the other which is all we can do.

We have set up a fundraising page in honour of our precious angel, so if anyone feels like giving at Christmas time please click on the link below:

Take care ladies. Sending lots of love to everyone but especially Shtinky.

Congrats shtinky on the birth of you little girls.. Wishing you a shorter stay in the nicu!
Christine sorry to hear about your little girls short stay in this world, wishing you all the best, I can't imagine the feelings you're having at the moment. Hoping you're other little girls stay in the nicu is also short!
Congrats lovemybabies on getting married too! The welcome list also looks great
Naartjie very scary!! Hoping you are also ok!
Hi to everyone else original.gif
AFM I failed the short glucose test and have to go back and do the full test next week... My bloods were 8.0 whereas they need to be under 7.8.. So hoping that one comes back ok. I did the same thing with my first pg failed the short test but passed the second - you would have thought I would have learned and gone straight to the long test hehe
Anyway getting late here, off to bed! Nighty night

Hi everyone,
Glad to hear the 3 NICU bubs are thriving. Christine I'm so relieved you are getting help with the house and other children, I think of your angel often.

I'm now very round and getting lots of comments. Am 30 weeks today and counting down. Bub is no longer breech so that's a relief, and my roster for January is out - all good news. I finish full time work at 35.5 weeks, then do 1 day a week until 38 when I qualify for mat leave. Was stressed as told I may have to do full-time until 38 weeks, I'm on my feet and didn't think I could.

Still very sore and some nausea, my meal proportions have to be small now - hopefully not much more weight gain!! 11kg so far, I was slim to start with but will need to do lots of walking when bub comes to get it off. And I'm still planning in indulging in all the foods that have made me I'll for the last 6.5 months original.gif

Good luck to you all, I guess it's lots of waiting now.... Hopefully to term for the rest of us, NICU sounds so scary! Hope the girls get out soon.

Hi ladies.

I've been reading but haven't been able to post sorry. For some reason I can't post on my iPhone (does anyone know why?) and at work I've been training my replacement so no privacy there!

Like everyone else, I've been thinking of you Shtinky and Christine. Thank you for the updates, it's great to hear that all the girls are doing well. Have you been given indications as to how long they are likely to be in hospital for?

Lovemybabies, congratulations on your engagement! Very exciting indeed!! Any ideas as to when you'll get married?

All is well here, GD and all. I don't think I've got it bad... my sugar levels are pretty normal. I have to test 4 times a day and they come in under the recommended level every time, which is great. The diet is essentially just making sure I don't eat too many carbs (which convert to sugar) and stay away from the sweet treats. I miss soft drink desperately!!! Other than that, I haven't had to change anything really so it's not that big a deal. They think if I stick to the "diet" that the baby should stay average size and hopefully will be born at around 7.5lb. They have told me that if I haven't gone by 39 weeks that they'll induce me at that point, so that: a) the baby doesn't get fatter in that last week; and b) the placenta is known to not last as long with GD so they take the bubba early in case the placenta "fails" and it turns into an emergency situation. That's totally fine by me, I'd much rather get it out at 38 /39 weeks than worry if the placenta is still feeding the baby or not.

So, at 31 weeks now that means I have 8 weeks to go maximum, which is so exciting. I'm so keen to meet our bubba and find out whether it's a boy or girl. I'm carrying high apparently so everyone keeps telling me it's a boy, but I don't believe in that stuff. Surely everyone carries differently depending on their body shape etc? Whatever... we'll be happy with either (although I must admit I think I am leaning towards wanting a girl - is that bad?).

Leg cramps have set in, esp first thing in the morning. I scream (and I mean scream) for my DH to come and stretch out my calves, as I can't fix it myself. God it hurts. Makes me think I'm going to be a real wuss during labour! Also, am getting a bit of bleeding from my nose but nothing too major.

Other than that, I feel awesome. I have still only put on 2kg, but the OB assures me that it's fine. The baby is obviously sucking it all out of me, as my bump is big but the rest of me is shrinking (baby weighed 1.2kgs when checked 3 weeks ago). I love it. It's strange but I feel skinny! My arms are thinner and I think my legs/butt are too, and I just have this gorgeous bump out front, which I love.

Anyway, enough rambling from me. I hope everyone else is doing well. The countdown is on, that's for sure!

Take care ladies, and have a good week. Big hugs to our NICU girls.

xxx
