Hi all. I'm 45 and almost 16 weeks along. This will be my 11th baby although I lost twin girls last year. I will be 46 by the time bub arrives. I've enjoyed reading all your posts and hope everyone is doing well.

I'm 40 & 22 wks with my 2nd ... DD1 is almost 4 (though developmentally around 2 y.o.). With DD1's issues - too much to go into, but basically her brain didn't develop properly - & with my age, we weren't going to try for another, however last year I went off the pill in preparation to have a Mirena IUD inserted, but for various reasons the appointment got put off a couple of months.. I wasn't too worried, having been diagnosed with PCOS pre DD1 (& being the age I am, esp as my biological mum went thru menopause from 38).. HOWEVER, 2 days after my 40th birthday my constant nausea & then the realisation that I'd only had a 1 day period made me wonder... & yep, 2 lines on the stick that made me almost pass out with shock!! I had actually drunk about a bottle of wine on my birthday & was really sick afterwards - thought I was just getting old & feeble! Whoops, then felt very guilty for my indulgence.
So here I am... just starting to get used to the ride. It's so different to my first pregnancy, which was planned - the mind set is vastly different. Also, with both pregnancies I've had bad "morning" sickness.. with DD1 I was off the meds at 22 wks, but alas this week I've been feeling a bit worse. And this time around I'm a long way from 'home', having moved interstate & rural, so without a lot of support. Can't believe how tired I was in the first trimester.. yikes!
I really appreciate the different experience of our 'surprise' pregnancy to that of so many of you who have fought so hard for your bubs... & wish all of you all the best. I'll be popping in every now & again to see how you're all going. As for those who worry - it really doesn't stop does it?! I thought I'd feel so much better after my 19 week morphology scan - DD1's issues were initially picked up at 19wks so I was terrified, but even though we went to a speciality clinic & everything was looking fine, I still seem to expect everything to go wrong. Fingers crossed hey..?! Although if I hear one more person say "everything will be FINE", i may get violent :-)
Right that's enough of me... it's late & I'm rambling. Good at that!

Hi gang, can I join in?Slight younger at 38, but this is bubs number one, hopefully, so very excited to hear about later pregnancies. Always, always wanted 3, and never planned on starting so late, so I'm resigned to it not being possible, but a part of me still hopes!
5 weeks somewhere between yesterday and tomorrow, and completely unable to shake the fear something will go wrong, like most of us! First obs appointment at 10 weeks with him not needing any tests beforehand. Decided today I can't possibly wait that long, so I'm asking the GP for an ultrasound, so I can stop worrying quite so much. My GP' s actually been very relaxed, so I haven't had to put up with any negativity except from myself!

Hi there. I'm 40, pregnant for the first time and just starting the 9th week.
As I keep saying, I'm cautiously excited. I'm optimistic. I refuse to be stressed or crazed about it.
It's sometimes difficult to maintain that attitude reading how nervous others are, to be honest, but hey everyone's different!
We were trying for 3 months and then thought I was pregnant, did the test then got it confirmed by the doc.
All good so far, but it's early days yet.
I'm optimistic but realistic too. I know things can happen and it's early days yet.
Looking forward to the 12 week scan more and more as it approaches.

Hi I'm new to EB. I am 41. I have a 10yr old and a 7yr old (almost). I have just found out I'm pregnant to my partner of 2.5yrs who was told he was infertile. LOL Not quite apparently lol. I'm am excited for him especially, but terrified at the same time. I am just over 4wks. Fingers crossed.

I thought I'd join in. I'm 42 in a few months and 20 weeks pregnant with #2. We have a 2.5 year old son.

Am finding it physically harder this time around, but not surprising as I now work 2 days/week and on 2 days of the week I am home with a very active toddler who just doesn't understand why Mummy gets tired. LOL.

Hi Ladies,

I'm 39 and 13 weeks pregnant with my first bub. MC last year at 11 w 5 days and just can't shake the feeling that it's all not real this time. Always check for spotting when I go to the loo and panic at every twinge.... Have had the NT with low risk results and heart beat was 165 so have everything crossed but I'm far from confident.. We've started telling everyone so I REALLY hope this one goes the distance... We'd so dearly love a child!

Hi folks - just back to update that my daughter was born a few weeks ago. I had a quite easy pregnancy all up, but some mild complications in labour (although a "normal" birth eventually), and some complications after that (due to a PPH and also a drug reaction) resulted in some additional hospital time for extra monitoring for me (baby and partner were actually both able to room in through this, which was an incredible help). Everyone is now home and doing well - my recovery at this point has actually been easier than the recovery after the birth of my son almost nine years ago.

So for those wanting stories of successful pregnancies to older mums - I was just shy of my 42nd birthday at conception, and 42 at the birth... We hadn't been sure we'd be able to get pregnant - and were pretty nervous most of the way through the pregnancy, to be honest. But it did all go well and we're thrilled to be home with our new daughter.
