I have recently finished reading The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. Amazing read! It's a Victorian mystery/drama I guess. It's long, but beautiful to read and a couple of the characters he has created are among the best I can recall.

I attempted reading the first book in the Fever Series, after reading the recommendations in the huge thread currently active about the books. I have to say I could not get past the first quarter of the book. I lost count of the amount of times the main character described how beautiful she was and referred to her" long blonde hair". When I started picturing Paris Hilton, I figured it was time to give up on the book! Did anyone else not like this book? Should I persevere and hope it picks up? Maybe reading a classic prior to this one has tainted my opinion!

I did start the thread about the books and I did enjoy them. Not classical literature but certainly entertaining and easy reading.

The main character starts off being the stereotypical 'Paris' but changes dramatically during the series. I think the author has done this deliberately as the character certainly 'learns' to be less pink and more black, in all aspects of her life- not just literally.

The first and second books are a little on the slow side but the story picks up and becomes a lot more interesting and thought provoking.

I would stick with it, bearing in mind that it is quite mainstream and won't be at all like a classic.

Currently re-reading various books in the Les Norton series by Robert G Barrett.

Just finished On Chesil Beach last week which totally bummed me out. As McEwan always does.

Tried to read A stolen life - not really my ususal read and I kind of skimmed it to be honest. Awful.

Reading a biography of Georgette Heyer - another odd choice but almost finished.

Everything else I have to read is non fiction - in summer I tend to prefer fiction so I'm feeling a bit lost!

Molondy - I loved RPM - and am going to buy it for my husband for his birthday.
