I have been taking Levlen ED for over a year (since having last bub) and I was on it for about 4-5 years prior to TTC recent bub. For the past two months mid-late cycle while on the pill I have been experiencing breast tenderness, just knocking them will often cause pain. I have also been suffering from cramps and back aches. All of these symptoms are new to me.

Now, I will be seeing my doctor about this when I go next (hopefully this week). But, just wondering if anyone else had experienced similar. Or if anyone has any thoughts. I am wondering if something hormonal might be going on.

I have stumbled across this thread and was wondering how you went with your GP? I have the same thing happening at the moment. I thought I'd gotten preggers on the pill! I took a test and it was negative but my breasts are so tender to the point where my nipples are killing me.

Hi. My GP put me on Yasmin. It was just a trial sheet, I tried it and it made no difference to the breast tenderness or the mood swings, bloating and fluid that seems to now come with AF. The GP says it is more than likely hormonal. When my sheet of Yasmin ran out, I just re-started the Levlen Ed. I guess it's back to the drawing board.

I too have been having extreme breast tenderness the past 4 or five months. I'm also on Levlen ED (have been for 5 years now) and from about the start of the second week after my period my breasts are heavy (feel like I'm bursting out of my bra) and very sore. The constant thinking I'm pregnant is doing my heart no good!

busymum01, yep same here. I wonder if that's what happens with this BCP after long term use!? It seems to be fairly common. I have been on it for a number of years except when TTC for just over 6 months before our last baby was conceived (who is now almost 2).

I posted something similar a few weeks back...I am on Levlen too and have been for many years before kids and in between kids. I too have been getting tender breasts and becoming much more snappy than usual prior to my period. I will be mentioning it to my doc this week when I take the kids for immunisations. Have mentioned it to a few friends who think it's just something that happens as we get older . I will be 38 in a few months.

Have also been thinking early menopause...but that's thanks to over- googling! (I think...).

Hunch, I don't think it would be Menopausal. I think it might be the amount of time on it, obviously my own opinion. I am coming up 30 but, if I remember right I have been on this particular pill on and off for the past 10 years. I think part of it may be getting older though as these issues are recent for me, probably the past 6-7 months.

Yep, I have the breast tenderness and moods. I've sort of come to accept it, as the pill does function by tricking your body into feeling pregnant.

Argh the moods! I too have come to accept it to a degree, while the moodiness does erk me (and those close to me lol) I can control that behaviour but the breasts are awful.

Being big breasted (F cup) as it is to have them feeling THIS heavy every month for weeks is ridiculous. I've toyed with the idea of DH having a vasectomy (he suggested it years ago) just so I can come off the pill but think that might be overreacting just a tad!

Hunch please let us know what your Dr says!
