My experiences so far have been positive but I know that if I'm still feeding past that magic first birthday comments are going to start being made. Thankfully my DD won't feed out of the house or in front of anyone anymore (gets way too distracted) so it isn't in anyone's faces and I figure I'll deal with the comments when the time comes. Did have a couple friends act really surprised though when they asked if I was down to 1 feed per day at 6 months and I said no still doing 5-6 original.gif Though to be fair they don't have kids and we are one of the first of our friends to have children

I'm still BF after 18 months and I'll keep going till 2 years (maybe longer if she wants it,especially at night or nap time if it gets her to sleep!)
I've not had any comments except my Mil who was surprised I was still breast feeding my daughter.
I said till 2 years and that was it.
It's NO ONE'S business how long you feed for, WHO guidelines say 2 years, no one looks twice at formula fed babies after 6 months, do they, so why is BF any different?

I agree, there is no sense switching to the hassle and expense of formula when breastmilk and water are the two best fluids for her at this stage.

Ditto. Sure they are on solids from 6mo but how much nutrition can you get from a tablespoon of sweet potatoe or pear etc? Breastmilk is an complete food so has everything that baby needs. I know my bubs even by the age of 12 months were still not that interested in 3 square meals.

Even now, my 18mo DS2 hates fruit with a passion and doesnt eat as much lean meat and veggies as I would like, but I know that with his 4 feeds a day he still has, any lack of nutrition in his diet will be made up with the breastmilk.

Also, the mother is still passing on antibodies etc in the breastmilk to help with babies immune system.

As DS2 is my last, I have no pressing need to get him off the boob, Im just letting him set the pace, he stil loves his boobie and Im even teaching him now to say 'byebye boobie' when hes done - so cute!

Feed your baby until either you or bub decides they dont want to anymore - bugger everyone else.

Why don't you get a small tee shirt for your bubs, which says "Mum's Milk for Me" and maybe that will stop everyone asking.

I bought a t shirt for a friend over seas that says "I love Boobies" in a size 2 original.gif
She's stoked and can't wait for it to put on her son who's still BF at 18 months.

I'm going to go look for a website that sells those. DS has started going 'mmmmmmmmmum!!' and grabbing the boobs of whoever happens to be holding him. Hilarious laughing2.gif

I used to get that with DD1, who I stopped feeding at 29 months.

No one asks me that question any more though. I think they assume I've weaned my nearly 3 yr old ( I haven't). And that I will continue to feed my 16 month old for a while yet laughing2.gif

I'm certain people think I'm crazy, or a complete ding bat, but it doesn't worry me in the least wink.gif I will continue to do what works for my family!

Rock your baby makes them. You could try eBay though.
I have finally put away my Ds's 00 size one and realised I didn't have any good photos of him in it, so we had a photo shoot in the backyard.

I got mine from Rock Your Baby( Australian company as well, so you support local businesses lol). I bought some lovely clothes from there not boobie related as well.
I just wasn't sure it was appropriate to make my daughter wear one, or if we'd get frowns out in public. Though that wouldn't really bother me.
