Hi Everyone!

Another month down eexcite.gif

I have been so slack lately. I will read over the posts from the last thread and post again later. Just thought I best start off the new thread while I thought of it!

Hope everyone has a nice day wink.gif

Ali

Thanks Ali!!

Happy Melbourne Cup Day everyone original.gif

I am in the cupboard trying to find something that fits... Its not looking good though... Oh well... I wonder if there is best under-dressed at the luncheon I am going to..

November already...

Quick question.. How often are you seeing your OB or midwife?

I have been to the doctor once... And that was for a scan referral, I think I may be a little complacent about this pregnancy... Off now to find a new doctor and new hospital...

Most surprising thing about being pregnant (this time) :

Um. Probably the kicks because of the rear position of the placenta. DD kicked a lot but because she was frank breech from 32 weeks AND the placenta was at the front, i did not feel quite as many kicks. i am sure i can feel every twitch this time around.

Better go. it is Melb Cup day but I am at work. It is not a Uni holiday. I have students sitting an exam and am sitting in my office marking essays . grrrr. I doubt the uni will even show the Cup in one of the lecture theatres but they sometimes do (on other campuses, this is the first time I've worked on this particular campus) .

Drs visits - Im on fortnightly ob visits and 4 weekly scans but that is because of twins. Single pregnancy I would still be on 4 weekly visits wink.gif

Most surprising thng about this pregnancy - I was thinking about this yesterday actually. I was just sitting around and thought back to the dating scan and how freaked out I was about "how will I cope with 4 kids!"
It never crossed my mind how hard the pregnancy would be sad.gif

My midwife appointments don't seem to have any pattern to them! Some have been six weeks between, 5 weeks or 3 weeks.

AW29 - I haven't done the Changing Shape workshop at RPA - was it good? I am doing yoga on Saturday morning in Annandale with the teacher that does it at RPA on Monday's - she is a real character but it is a nice (and easy) class.
Are you doing any other classes? We are doing the Refresher course in Dec and the Birth Centre Intensive in January

Woohoo two days in a row Tounge1.gif

Clothes sizes - Considering taking most of the nice 0000 sizes back and swapping them for 000s. Bub was growing 6 days ahead at last scan (9 by size of head) so probably won't fit in to 0000s.

Surprising thing about being pregnant - Falling pregnant in the first place Tounge1.gif Apart from that, probably the huge difference in people's reactions, from the Congratulations from some to rude stares from others, and people reaching out to touch my belly/asking to touch it/refusing to look at it/slowly slowly stretching their hand out to give me a chance to say no. Just interesting how different everyone reacts.

Time Flying - As of today, we only have two full calendar months (December and January) left until we are due Tounge1.gif

Kiwi - Thanks for the advice regarding movement. Would assume a heartbeat means all is well. Not reassuring though after reading the stillbirth article on the home page.

Maddianna - Hope all went well today with the Drs

Fiveplusone - I am seeing Ob every four weeks until I am 28 weeks, then it is fortnightly until 36 weeks, then weekly until 40 weeks, not sure what happens if I go over though. I am going private though, so I think there is more appointments with that system than public.

Classes - We are booked into a 2-day weekend course (and it only runs from 9:30-3:30) so hoping they cover enough in this short time for us being first timers. That is it as far as the hospital is concerned. Is anyone else doing the calm birth or similar classes? Not sure what way to go with non-hospital classes.

Hope everyone had a nice day today for Melbourne Cup. We weren't allowed to show it at work to the kids because last year a pair of mothers complained that watching it incites gambling. Don't want to go on too much of a rant, but the kids loved watching the horsies running around in all past years, and I don't think that 3-5 yr olds will remember in 15yrs time that watching the horses running is linked to winning money...but anyway what's done is done. Also annoyed at boss today - we all contributed food to a work luncheon, she nothing, yet she sat in there for 2hrs eating it all.

Enjoy the rest of the week original.gif

Hi Kya, it was great actually but they scare you about pelvic floor exercises and what is likely to happen if you dont do them!! I work Saturdays so unfortunately i can't do the yoga class. I am doing the sunday full day course in december and deciding whether to do the breastfeeding one. I think it might be weird to do a breastfeeding course with no baby yet?? i could be wrong though

Hi to everyone and hope you had lovely Melbourne cup days

fiveplusone, i've seen the midwives twice, and the first visit could have been accomplished basically by me filling in a form and getting a letter in the mail, instead waiting two hours and then being verbally asked very simple questions, and then handed a pack of information about not eating cold meats or taking heroin. i'm cool with it not being too intense at this point though. with the scans and going to my GP for nausea tablet prescriptions it seems like i've had more on, and i've got antenatal class in a couple of weeks too.

i'm really looking forward to the antenatal classes, and i'm going to watch DP's face during the videos rather than being attentive to the screen- i've been to births, and watching his face is something i doubt i'll be doing when i give birth. i just want to see that facial expression sequence of 'oh- oh- wait- ew- hang on- ugh- but- wow!' when the head finally comes out Tounge1.gif

miss kiwi yes i've noticed you on EB lately too! i think sometimes people like stirring the pot a bit on here. i get a lot of intellectual stimulation here though, sometimes you can really help someone (or be really helped, like i have been on this thread original.gif ) and i feel like i've socialised a bit by hanging out on here sometimes.

the most surprising thing for me about being pregnant is that i haven't really enjoyed it. i was so devastated with my endometriosis diagnosis, and i love children so much and knew i wanted to be a mum so badly, and i think i built up pregnancy in my mind as this spiritual, blissful, fulfilling thing, and i think i thought i'd be this glowing earth mother who exuded calm and suddenly felt her life's calling had been answered. naive, i know, but i've learned my lesson Tounge1.gif

heartburn sucks and chewy lemon mint mylanta is one of my oprah-style 'favourite things' at the moment.

My apologies for not being on here for ages. Have tried to read, but have been lacking energy. See OB next week, so think I'll ask to get my iron levels checked.

I think I'll just address topics rather then personals too. So hard to keep up biggrin.gif !

I do want to mention how stunning your wedding photos were though Ali! I couldn't believe you were even pregnant. You looked amazing original.gif.

Also, Nicole, the girls' cakes were just gorgeous! You are so clever original.gif!

AMK: I also wanted to say how I sympathise with you about hayfever. My OB told me many of her patients take Claratyne and it was fine to take. However, the pharmacist said he wouldn't recommend I take it. I think it is a B class drug. Anyway, he said using Fess spray and Rhinocort spray were my best options. I suffer from sinus too and I have found using these has been ok most days. If you can use the Fess as a preventative rather than when you are already suffering it helps a bit. Glad your shifts are a bit better, but boy I admire you, I just couldn't do it wink.gif!

Heartburn: UGH! I have had it for @ 9 years and was on medication for at least 7 of those. I came off it last March and was doing quite well with the help of my Naturopath. I took Ranitide with DD, but want to try and avoid that this time. So, I'm existing on Mylanta and Gaviscon. I'm coping ok for now.

Bras: How is everyone doing with their bras? I am still doing ok with my Ahh Bras. They are stretching nicely. I am sooo glad I got them otherwise I would have had to keep buying new bras every few months original.gif !

Weight: Well, I haven't wighed myself for a week or so - too scared laughing2.gif - but I had put on 10kg cry1.gif !

What has been surprising about this pregnancy: Well, I can't believe how ravenous I was in the first trimester! Also, I can't believe how much I have forgotten. I can barely remember my pregnancy with DD, 8 years ago. Only the damn pelvic separation which is even worse this time around:( . I am also more worried about blood pressure this time around. My last reading was 113/73, which was great, but I get a bit freaked every time my OB takes it in case it has crept up. Also a bit anxious about having the glucose test in the next week or so.

Anyway, I best go. I am surrounded by mess and I really need to get something done this morning, because by afternoon I'm like a zombie laughing2.gif !

Hope you all have a great day wink.gif .

Ali
