Hey all you ladies,

How's things??

Liltuss, how did you go?

Siobhann, lovely to hear from you! How are you tracking? Thanks for your Q, I know you went through similar stuff with your testing. We are not the first to find the disorder on this particular gene, but I am led to believe there are many bit of this gene that could have a problem, so we might have found it the first time on this tiny bit of this tiny but HUUUUGE problem? I dunno, I'm not scientific enough! But, I am hoping and hoping that our testing results will flow through to all the stem cell research that is happening and will help some other people down the track.

ChosenOne - nice to see you back and big congrats on your baby boy, I bet he is bringing bundles of joy. Thanks for popping in, I can speak for myself when I say it is encouraging!

Hi Spock, hi zjb, how are you guys?? Hi to everyone else!!

AFM not much news, we booked in to see the plethora (I love that word and cherish every opporunity to use it) of people we have to see at the clinic at the end of Nov, and just waiting for a bit more info from the lab / geneticist early this week to make sure there will be enough info for us to see these dudes and set everything up. All going well, I expect we will be on the road early next year, being realistic about Christmas breaks for doctors, our own time to get our heads around it all and get through the silly season as unscathed as possible!! Thanks everyone for encouraging me to book in, the Dr was very happy to hear we were almost there and happy to get us in!

I'm really beginning to think about healthy eggies now, since we are probably 3 months out and they say that's the timeframe to consider. I am on your regular vitamins, thinking about the CE10 and basically upping the leafy green intake in our lives (and lowering the vino intake!! wink.gif ) . Is there anything else you ladies have done and seen better results from?

Happy Sunday, hope you have had a lovely weekend and have a fantastic week ahead. May it fly for all of us who are waiting for answers!!! wink.gif

Heartbroken.......

There has been some problem at the lab (they wouldn't tell me what has happened) and my DH has to have his testing done again. They couldn't tell me how long it would take, said it wouldn't take the full 6 months, but advised that we should postpone out November appointments.

OMG Bright Future !! That is awful for you sweetie, and your poor DH, I am so so sorry. What a way to bring you down, that is disgraceful that the clinic has stuffed up, whatever it was. I'm sure you're too upset right now but I would be insisting on an explanation, and some kind of compensation & certainly a committment to when you can expect new results. Don't hesitate to take it higher when you have the energy - they need to know it can't happen again.

Try to stay as positive as you can, and use that little bit of extra time to work on the eggies. I have taken COq10 along with Blackmores preconception, thrown in a bit of Vitamin D here & there. TBH I haven't noticed a massive change in eggs but I am pretty old rolleyes.gif After a number of cycles, I must admit Ihave relaxed a little on being super-strict with my diet. I eat pretty healthily anyway, have a little wine now & then and maybe one full strength coffee every couple of days (one decaf a day).

I'm not entirely sure of your specifics on fertility but menevit for DH could also be an option, supposed to take 3 months to work. Have you explored DHEA for eggs ? It isn't for everyone, and certainly not for ladies like me who have polycystic ovaries, but there is some school of thought it's useful. It's not a wonderdrug, and has side effects but maybe read up.

I hope you can get some more answers soon, sorry again to hear your bad news. Spend some quality time doing lovely things with your DH so you can make the time pass faster.

Thanks for asking about me, we got two nice blastys but decided that wasn't enough to warrant CGH. I will pop in here every now & then to see how you're all going, and wish you nothing but the best. Your time will come I feel sure.

Thanks Liltuss, I've had a bit of fresh air and a cup of tea and feeling less like bursting into tears now (not such a good look at work is it?).

I must clarify it was the hospital lab that has stuffed up somehow, not our IVF clinic.

ETA sorry to hear about your blastys, did you have one transferred in the end? Fingers crossed for you if you did.

Hello lovely ladies,

Just popping in to say hi! Seems to be pretty quiet in here but am guessing there is lots of waiting going on as seems to be the way with pgd.

Bright*Future - was so happy to hear that they found the nonsense gene and then devo to further read about the lab mishap cry1.gif I hope they work really hard to get you back to where you were....

Liltuss - was lurking elsewhere so big hugs. Fingers crossed that one of your frozen embies will be 'the one'.

Eskimoo - how are you coping with the wait?

Zjb, Siobhan, Spring - Hi! how are you all doing? Where are you at with your cycles?

Spock - hey! Will pm you soon.

Sorry to anyone i've missed, hi to anyone else popping in.

Afm - just jumping through all the hoops to start a donor cycle. May be joining you all again soon as our fs has suggested that if our first donor cycle is not successful that we do pgd on any remaining embies.

Hope everyone is taking care of themselves!

Wishful Thinking. x

Hi guys,

How is everyone going? It is quiet in here! Like you say wishful, the PGD journey is a slow one!

Wishful, lovely to hear from you, what's the donor journey like? I have read a few bits and it sounds like lots of extra stuff to go through. FX for you that it is quick.

Liltuss, I've seen you've been around, stay in touch, will be watching your journey. I have ordered some CoQ10 as have read stuff about the egg quality and also sperm quality, and am on the Swisse preggo vitamin. Will be force feeding hubs the swisse mens and any CoQ10 I can get down his throat... I kinda figure, it can't hurt! I haven't looked into the DHEA but I will do some research, thanks for all that info, I appreciate it.

Thanks so much to you all for your support. I am ok. When it all happened my DH was away for work and I couldn't bring myself to tell him as I knew it would distract him and ruin any good parts of the trip, which I think made things worse. We are well and truly behind, as we had to put off our Nov appointments I can't see us getting into the FS until next year now, with Christmas etc in between. I think they pretty much shut down, disappear and have a really good break over that time, which they deserve for sure. I am still not really sure what happened in the lab but it turns out it is a new strain / mutation of the gene so they are testing & restesting, intepreting and estimating. We will be happy to contribute to the research down the track but for now we just want the bloody results!!!

Anyhoo - enough about me, how is everyone else. Dying to see some good news in here, fingers crossed and strength to each and every one of us who is going through this bloody difficult journey.

Hi ladies, just popping in as I've been away overseas (2 weddings to attend) for some time.

bright*future, you sound like a patient person, patience seems to be very important for pgd testing. I hope you get some answers soon so you can get cracking early next year.

wishful thinking, hi, hope all is progressing smoothly.

liltuss, have you had a transfer?

eskimoo, chesire cat, zjb, siobhan, spring, hope you're all well.

afm, suffering a bit of jet lag. We are of the next couple of weeks for our donor egg cycle. Fingers crossed.

Hi ladies,

I just had another failed cycle and this is my third. I have a question about PGD testing. DH and I have a child whom we conceived naturally but we are doing IVF due to MFI and LOR. So far all we have got is BFN. Do you lovely ladies here have any idea if PGD testing would apply to couples like us who have managed to naturaly conceived? I am not sure what exactly PGD is but know it is something about testing the chromosomes?

I know none of us here are doctors or specialists but if anyone has any comment I would love to hear it. Thanks!
