Hi,

I'm 9weeks pregnant with my second bubs. With my first delivery I went into labour naturally and got to 9cm then stalled so it was advised that I have an epidural and was put on the drip to try and get me to 10cm. So I ended up on my back and unable to feel in the pushing stage. Bubs went into distress (cord wrapped around chest and under arm) and we got her out using the vacuum but then had a shoulder dystocia but they did get her out using the mcRoberts maneuver.

With number 2 I am really hoping to try another natural delivery. The OB has recommended I cut out sugar and cut down calories to see if we can make a smaller bub. DD wasn't huge 3.45kg born at 38+6. but the OB has said an averaged sized baby is too big for me. I also think that if I was able to birth on all fours it might be better (I brought this up at my first appointment but OB didn't seem to think this would make a difference he said it wouldn't change my bone structure but surely this would open the pelvis up a bit more?). He has said we will monitor growth and if bubs is looking too big we will have to look at inducing early.

Anyway just after advice, did anyone have a shoulder dyscosia with their first then go on to have a normal delivery. Any tips on what I can do diet wise. I was thinking a diet aimed at gestational diabetes might be a good start. Are there any good resources on foods to avoid etc.

That turned out a bit long, thanks for reading this far, any advise would be appreciated original.gif
