hi all. thought i'd come on over and share a bit of my story

42 - been ttc my 2nd since i was 39 - had 2 pgs in that time and mc'd twice (the latest just after my 42nd b'day).

i had been hopeful until recently when I have noticed my cycle going a bit funny - basically cycle length hasn't changed but my normally reliable ovulation surge has gone missing in action and my period is lighter in flow and darker in colour than it used to be.

waiting on results for hormone testing as well as amh which I'm expecting later this week

seeing my FS in two weeks though i think i know what she will say

I have been getting acupunture, taking dhea, coq10 and r alpha lipoic acid and vitex

not much else to say really other than it seems like my journey is coming to an end......

Do you chart at all? You know - temps and cervical mucus/position? If so, I'd strongly urge you to go over to Stalk and Be Stalked in the Charting area. No-one hangs around here anymore, and you'll get much more support and humorous posts over there.

As for your periods going a little haywire... do you or your partner smoke? Or used to smoke? THat would be a bad sign as smoking is known to cut short your reproductive years. Also do you know how old your mother and grandmother were when they started going through the change?

Have you had the dreaded AMH test?

I like to kid myself that IUI is still "natural" because my eggs stay inside my body wink.gif And my DH did the injecting after the FS placed the syringe, so we can still say that my husband "did the pushing" wink.gif

Have you had an HSG/dye test or laparoscopy? I was found to have an endometrioma (endo in the ovary which formed a big "chocolate" cyst. Surgeon reckons that it would have been secreting hormones which impacted on my fertility. So there are lots of things to get checked out.

But it's good news that you've been able to conceive thus far. That's one hurdle I haven't yet been able to jump. If it's a problem with keeping the baby, there's heaps they can do. And at our age, one thing you might like to look into is DHEA - it apparently/anecdotally increases the quality of the eggs you still have, which can improve your chances of keeping a baby to term.

And it's not over till it's over. If you're still getting periods, you're still in with a chance. biggrin.gif

Hi gals! Newbie here ... i'm 39 - turning 40 next May so hoping I might be able to join this buddy group!

My partner is 32 (turning 33 in December), we have a daughter (from my previous relationship) whom we have 100% of the time! She's amazing and considers my partner to be her Daddy. So this is our 'first' time trying to conceive together but my second time ttc.

Anyway - i'm hoping we don't have any problems! We have only now seriously started trying, i've been charting for a while so know my cycle really well. My partner is worried about his swimmers as he has a variocele so we're thinking of getting a test for him - just to be sure.

DD is 3 and a 1/2 and we'd love to make our little 3some a 4some - so hope you don't mind me jumping into this thread!

Little bit about me! I'm a kids book author and work in the fashion field as well. Love life! Love to have one last bubba to complete my family biggrin.gif
