Threebubs - Sew it up is like a gathering for sewing, chatting, shopping, eating (all sewing related of course). This year it is in Canberra - There is a blog for it. Time flies when you work. Our DS had an amber necklace. It looked really cool until he pulled it off the other month. I was a bit sad when that happened.

Bec - I haven't heard anything. I was thinking of going. Depends if anyone else I know is going from Brisbane. Also depends on cost. Would be nice to get away for a girls weekend. Though I couldn't take my sewing machine so it really would be shopping, workshops and maybe cutting/tracing or knitting.

I spent some time on the weekend working on a blouse but even though I made a muslin the fit isn't right. I think partly sizing and partly the style. Will try to do some more work on it maybe this weekend. Or maybe start something new closedeyes.gif

Suez-June long weekend http://sewittogether.wordpress.com/

I really want to go, but worried it would be too much on top of placement - I'll have lessons to plan etc...
My sensible side says 'give it a miss, there is always next year', my inner 14-year-old is saying 'but everyone else gets to go, it's not fair!'

Hmmm - I'll ponder it a while...

Hi all. I never seem to get in here lately and I haven't been sewing other than boring old mending. I do want to start sewing winter clothes for DD. She has gone from my little girl who loves dancing dresses and twirly skirts to my "unprincess" who will only wear leggings and a tee finished with a pair of thongs ohmy.gif . So I am trying to think of a creative way to ensure she is comfortable but also to make her wardrobe a little more funky...not necessarily feminine and girly because she obviously has her own style biggrin.gif

I found this gorgeous idea...
Skirt leggings
Does anyone else have some suggestions???????

Hello everyone.

Nayjay, that skirt is adorable - a good way to get some girly-ness back into your daughters wardrobe while being pretty funky too I think. I've been thinking about winter clothes for my two as well, plus I have two nieces with birthdays in winter so I am trying to think of something I can make them as well.

I've made a few things this week but haven't blogged any of it - a pair of pjs for DD2 (found a bunch of knits on clearance at Spotlight for $2 a metre - bargain!), a couple of skirts for my nieces out of some fabric I had left over from a dress I made my sister a while back, and also a skirt and a vest for DD1.

I also dyed some fabric - my very first attempt - to try and make a lace dress like this one here:

http://kittykatescloset.blogspot.com.au/20...-continued.html

Sorry I can't remember whose blog this is - or even if you are in the Sewing BG thread! But I found the blog on a recent thread here about blogs and thought "what a great idea!" So you have inspired me.

Hi all,
I've been missing for a while but it looks like I'm not the only one. This thread has been rather quiet. I hope that means there is lots of sewing happening.

I have been doing quite a bit of sewing but not much blogging. I have put a couple of up cycled outfits on my blog but not much else. I'm trying to spend less time on the computer and more time sewing. I don't get much of a chance to sew during the day now so if I'm on the computer at night then I get nothing else done. I'm not sewing tonight though so I'm off to browse some blogs.

I hope everyone else is well and keeping busy.

Nayjay - I hope everything is going well and you're family are all settling into having a new baby.

Melajoe - thanks for your comment on my blog. I'm very impressed with your dying and up cycling. Great job as always.

Hello original.gif

It has been quiet in here, if you're anything like me at the moment the days just fly by, I can't believe it's April!

Kattrel - I love those up cycled outfits, really cute!

Melajoe and Nayjay - how's the winter wardrobes coming along? I need to get started on some clothes for my three as well, too busy making quilts though original.gif

AFM - we went to the gold coast for a week in march, it was fantastic! The kids had a wonderful time, so did the grown ups. The weather was perfect, DD2 cooperated and slept well, it was just great!

I have been working on a few quilt tops lately. I held a market stall last weekend which went well. The sewing gets a bit repetitive and boring though so I don't think ill do that too often.

Might try and get to spotlight 40% of all fabric sale on Monday, I'm trying to resist but feel its not working lol. I need to stock up on batting for my quilts but it's so expensive! It's cheaper to buy it in the US and have it shipped, much cheaper, which makes me feel bad for shopping overseas, but the difference is huge sometimes!

Have a lovely Easter everyone!

I've been doing a little bit of sewing, and putting a few things up on my blog. We went away for Easter and so this week has been so rushed, trying to catch up on stuff around the house and the mountains of washing. Busy weekend this weekend with friends coming to stay tonight and then a 1st birthday party tomorrow, so I probably won't get a chance to do much sewing this weekend.

threebubs - I've got so many ideas for winter clothing but I don't know when I'll get around to it. We've been feeling the chill here this last week or so - Winter is definitely on its way! Did you end up going to the 40% off sale at Spotlight? I went and picked up a few things - found some great stretch twill (or was it drill?) fabric to make some skinny cargos for DD1 (the Pipe Leg pants from Otto 1/12) and some lovely wool blend jersey. I bought the whole roll as it came down to $2-something a metre and it felt so lovely and soft. I'll probably make the girls some little winter dresses out of it, and maybe a dress or scarf for myself.

Has anyone seen the new Oliver + S patterns just released? I am in love with the trench coat pattern! I really want to buy it but not sure I can justify the postage cost for just one pattern and I really shouldn't just buy something else for the sake of it... should I?

Hi
I'm still around.
Finished a dress the other day and have blogged it. have finished off a couple of knitting items but that's the extent for my Easter sewing.

Naomi - how's your little guy going? My Dad has finally put his house on the market so if you know of anyone who would like acreage just out of Maryborough? Love those leggings for little girls. Great for keeping legs warm.

Mel - Is isn't one of those available in pdf format? I'm not the one to ask for advise about buying patterns happy.gif

Better keep moving, back to work tomorrow after a couple of weeks off.

Susan

Hi everyone,

I have been lurking a lot, but not posting as I haven't been achieving much at all sadly! I started a top for me in sewing lessons this term which, as it turns out, was wildly ambitious and I struggled big time. It is nearly completed now, but only thanks to the intervention of my sewing teacher. At least now I know what my limits are! To get my enthusiasm back, on the last night of term I started a little cord skirt for DD which was WAY easier and restored my faith that I can sew (at least a little bit!). I will post photos of both when they are done. I can't remember what the last thing I posted photos of was. I'll go back and check and try and get up to date on here as to where I'm at! I was also unwell for a little bit so that threw me too - an early miscarriage coupled with a mystery infection (Dr's think a kidney or UTI type thing), but I ended up in hospital for four days and had a D&C so missed a few sewing lessons and wasn't up to doing much by myself at home for a while.

Good to see a few posts here over the last few days. I've been stalking blogs and loving what I've seen as always. Hopefully once I get back to sewing lessons this term I'll have more to report.

I went to the Spotlight 40% off sale and could have bought a few things, but have a bit of a stash here I'd like to clear a bit of before I commit to any more fabric purchases. Was hard to resist though!

Oh - I am looking for one thing that I cannot find, so if any of you have any insight as to where I might find it I'd really like to know! It is Nani Iro Hoshi Saaaa Saaa knit fabric. I am after the one that is sort of a chocolate and cream/white stripe with chocolate stars or the blue and cream/white with blue stars. I can only find it anywhere in a peach/apricot colour and that's not what I want at all. The only other option I have found is the one with the dots, but I am desperate for the stars and stripes if I can get it. It is SOOOO soft and beautiful and would love to make a baby blanket for a friend out of it if I can find it anywhere.

I am off too now. Will make more of an effort to be more dedicated to posting here now things are a bit more back to normal.

Hope you're all well.
