My dad always called me Grub, mainly because I was one original.gif When I was a preschool teacher, if one particular boy wouldn't respond to his real name we were told to try calling him "Josè" to which he would respond. He had heard the phrase "No way Josè" so many times from his folks, he assumed that was his name!

QUOTE (newdaddy09 @ 31/08/2011, 11:37 AM) *
My old man called me everything under the sun but my real name

Likewise. I reckon mine doesn't even know my real name... Kiddo was a common one, but we were squiddley and diddley, I'm still Squid now we're grown up.

My cousins got heckle and jeckle, so could be worse.

i was called 'poppin' by my Dad due to my love of mary poppins as a toddler.
still get called this every now and then, takes me back original.gif
My brother was always called 'tiger' by my Grandfather as well, my best friend is still called 'dot' or 'dottie' by her dad, my cousin (female) is still 'bear' to her dad, none of the nicknames have anything to do with our real names.

My Dad calls me 'Mellsie' - I had many other family nicknames but he was the only one who used that.

He is suffering from dementia now and it ripped my heart in two to hear him cry "Mellsie, Mellsie.... I'm frightened!"
