Congratulations Dakota and mummycuddles on the arrival of your boys!

More boys!! Are all the girls being fashionably late wink.gif

I walked up and down a big steep hill this morning and was rewarded with very strong BH and a small bloody show original.gif If nothing happens today I may have to hit that hill again tomorrow.

How's everyone else feeling?

Hi everyone, haven't made it in here since Lachie made his arrival one week early. Thank you for all your messages.

Lachlan's Birth story.
I had prelabour pains for a couple of weeks before bub decided to come. Wednesday 27th i woke up overnight and had a show and was having a few period like cramps during the early morning. Then everything decided to stop and settle down. Thursday and Friday mornings had period like cramps in the early morning, then not much during the day.

Friday night around midnight the cramps started again and i felt them nearly every hour all night. Rang my mum and asked her if she could come and stay for the weekend as she was looking after my DD for us. Had a bloody show around 10am. Basically did not much at all on Saturday as mum entertained DD for us and DH was doing housework. Everything went away again and i thought we had got mum over for nothing.

Went to bed at 2.00 am convinced that nothing was going to happen. Woke up at 3:45 with the first pain and by 5:30 we arrived at the hospital as i had been told to get there quickly if things started to happen by my doctor. Contractions were around 5 mins apart by then. Went straight into the birthing suite when we arrived and was told i was 4 - 5 cm dilated. They put the monitoring machine on me and i had to lay on the bed. The midwife was having trouble getting a good reading of bubs heartrate, so she kept adjusting the strap.

Turns out with every contraction bubs heartrate would drop and the midwife was a little worried about this so she kept the machine on me and wouldn't let me off the bed except the one time to go to the toilet and she wouldn't let me stay there, which i wanted to as it was much more comfortable. She got me back on the bed and the pain felt so bad that i actually asked for some pain relief. SHe went and organised some pethadine for me as i was already throwing up so didn't want to try the gas.

Just before giving me the pethadine she decided to check how far dilated i was and realised i was fully dilated and that when i had said i wanted to push i had meant it. She then had to break my waters for me as they still hadn't broken. The relief was instant and then started to push. Lachlan was born at 7:16am after only being at the hospital for just over 1 and a half hours.

He had his cord half round his neck and was around his leg and was holding onto it with his hand which is why his heart rate was dropping with contractions. The midwife was worried about not getting him out quick enough but was already worried that the doctor was going to miss the birth as he got there just as bub's head came out.
I had 1st degree tears and the doctor ummed and arrhed about putting stitches in but i ended up with one or two but they haven't bothered me at all.

Our little boy is a very content baby and is settling into a nice routine overnight where i feed him at midnight, then around 3-4 then he goes til about 7 or 8 which is good. My DD was scared of him to start with especially if he cried she would run out of the room all upset, covering her ears but now she keeps smothering him with kisses and just wants to cuddle him.

Good luck to those still waiting for bub to arrive, and just wanted to say a special COngratulations to Suze and jen i hope your little one arrives soon (sorry just wanted to say those to the girls as i feel i know them the best as we chatted over our whole pregnancy)
Nicky xxx

Just wanted to pop in and share our news. Willem Marco decided to join the big outside world August 5th at 9am. Waters broke at 3:30ish am with out any warning or contractions and I went straight into 4 min contractions. Got to 3min an hour and a bit later. Arrived at the birthing center at 5:30am and all over by 9:12am. Pretty intense, unexpected as this is my first! Doing great and at home now. So ecstatic!

Well I am 38 weeks tomorrow and getting on a plane from Brisbane to Melbourne. My MIL who has been sick for a long time has gone dramatically down hill in the last three days. My DH has rushed back from Zambia and she is now in her last days it seems. She has requested to see her grandson one last time so I am crossing my legs and getting on a plane with an 18mth old and hoping for the best. I am still recovering from the nightmare flight from Africa with DS at 36 weeks. I am going to see my OB tomorrow morning for a quick check and hopefully he will say it is ok to go and hopefully this baby doesn't decide to come before wednesday when I get back.

I am so sad for DH, even though he is not super close with his mum, it would be so hard to be losing a parent so I really want to be there for him. I am now also finding it very hard to be excited about the arrival of our baby. I wanted this time to be a really happy time but instead I feel like if I go into labour now I will be dragging DH from his dying mother's bedside and I have these real fears of going into labour and him missing the funeral or something equally as horrible and suddenly such a happy time just seems to be such a burden for everyone. I also feel really sorry for DS who has no idea what is going on, has only just settled into a new time zone, a new house and has FINALLY settled down and is sleeping. I really didn't want to uproot him again but these things obviously can't be planned.

I am really looking forward to seeing DH tomorrow, I know that will make me feel better about everything.

Congratulations to all of those who have there babies. I must be the only one in here who is wishing for their baby to be two weeks over due so that we can focus on everything one thing at a time! I think my lady bits are wishing it to come a little earlier though as baby was measuring 35 weeks at 30 weeks and DS was enormous and he came on his due date. Ob thinks this little boy is a bit of a monster too.

Nicky - he's just gorgeous original.gif I hope I have a baby soon - I'm completely bored of 25 million years of prelabour!

xarley - congratulations! Another boy!!

Courtney - oh wow, I hope you don't look very big, or get a letter from your Ob, I had a bit of trouble travelling last time at around 34 weeks - it almost looked like I wouldn't get home at one point due to some idiot at the checkin counter. I'm sorry about your MIL too, hope your DS is ok with the disruption sad.gif

AFM - more of the same; BH, cramps...NO LABOUR!
