Its me again ....

Ive tried giving her one to hold, letting her do it etc but what if she just clamps shut and won't let the brush anywhere near?

She's got 12 teeth now too and working on more. I feel it's so important but most times it's flat out refusal.

Help?? wink.gif

Buy a heap of cheap ones and chuck them in the bath with her, while she is bathing, you brush your teeth.

I wouldn't make a big deal out of it, sometimes that can make things worse, and it's a matter of picking your battles.

She will eventually do it herself.

My son is 3yrs old and I still have trouble brushing his teeth.
He does drink lots of water & likes to chew on the washer, so thats gotta count for something.?
When I do brush his teeth, he doesn't like toothpaste, so just use water. He also finds MY toothbrush alot more amusing than his own, so maybe have some 'spare' (soft) adult brushes so your DD can chew on them, that way her teeth are getting something. Maybe you can brush your teeth at the same time, or let your DD brush your teeth, while you brush hers?
Also try to keep sugar to a minimum.

Watch this space.
A dentist once told me that if a child won't brush their teeth they could eat a piece of apple followed by a piece of cheese instead.

There is a special 'toothbrush' for toddlers that is like a finger puppet made out of towelling that you put over your forefinger with a little toothpaste on it and you clean their teeth with your finger.
So much more gentle and you can get a good clean of them.
We found ours at Mothercare but some big pharmacies have them as do dental surgeries.

That finger puppet toothbrush is a great idea. I couldnt try with my son though, I think I would lose my finger, he bites everything at the moment.

That's what my DD thought with her son but you keep your finger on the outside of the teeth instead of inserting it through the teeth---he can't bite. original.gif
