Hi all,

This is my first time using the forums - although I do love reading them biggrin.gif, I hope you don't mind if I join the group.

I'm pregnant with my second child and DD is due 14th September. My DS has just turned 2. Everything is going smoothly and I have my glucose test on Monday.

Karen

hello,

It's been ages since I've been on here but thought I'd just see how everyone is going. Looks like not too many people are actively on here of late, just like me!

congrats mamalillz on your baby Vincenzo Robert. Gorgeous. Hope he is doing well.

StarT thanks for your updates. When I lived in Sydney I had a weekend in the blue mountains with DH and it was so nice. Brings back memories!

Well I'm 29 weeks tomorrow and have a large round tummy and feel plenty of kicks and movements now (even though placenta is at the front so it took longer and I'd say I'm not getting them as strong as some people - mainly feel it around the edges more - probably where the placenta isn't there).

Have been shopping! Trying not to spend too much as aware that I won't have an income when I take 12 months off. Have restructured my job at work (as I will work part-time when I get back) and have been recruiting, which is halfway through that process and so far so good. Having baby shower on Sunday 31 July and last day at work on Friday 5 August. Had the glucose challenge test last week, haven't heard anything although the results might not be sent to the doc until tomorrow. I didn't mind the drink, was more worried about the blood test and that was ok too. I have the birth classes coming up (three evenings over three weeks) in late June to mid July.

I expect that the next 11 weeks or so are going to go very fast. I am really looking forward to it but also still concentrating on what's happening each day, one day at a time, so I don't think I've really realised how much it's all about to change - even though I'm busy planning for it. It is fairly obvious with a baby kicking me all the time, and spending time with my baby nieces, but I think when I finish work it's all going to become very real. I am thinking about the birth and meditating on it so quite positive and when I am uncertain about something, I search for information about it, so facing any fears or concerns head on and dealing with them now. Hoping to be in a kind of hypnotic trance during the labour, and doing yoga breathing and sounds.

DH is away this weekend and I have had a quiet one which is fantastic. But I saw a mouse in the house, which is a first for me. Have set traps but haven't seen the mouse in the last day so no idea where it is now!!

Hi All,

Thank you for the welcomes. All well here. DH has been away for almost 2 wks and is due back on Tues so can't wait for a lie in...but wont hold my breath. It has been pretty busy and I have tried not to do too much, though easier said than done!!
Plodding along, baby is lying head down..but don't want to jinx it so wont say anymore...

Mrs QB: I understant what you are saying about labour and fear..this is the last time for us..so hoping to make it a bit more pleasant..if that is makes sense. I have a very gd friend who has had 4 children and says she does not mind labour at all and goes into a trance like state and is oblivious to anything else going on...hoping to get a few of those postive vibes!! Talking of mice...we seem to have possums and rats in our ceiling. Was a bit scared as they were soo loud. Called my husband in the UK...not much help but gd to speak to him..had the possum man who confirmed that it is possums and also rats...oh well will add that to the list of things to do.

I am planning to work till 38 wks as I would like 12 months off after the baby is born although it would be great if this one came a bit earlier as my other 2 children both have birthdays in Sept as well. My DH seems to think I should go back at 9 months (had 12 months off with the other children...in the UK so recieved gd maternity leave pay)...but I am sticking to 12 months off and now we qualify for mat pay here also...plan to breastfeed for min 12 months. I am a nurse so figure I could always do some casual shifts if I absolutely had to...but don't plan on it.

Anyway that's it from me...bye for now

Hi - its been a while since I checked in to see how you all are doing but, like CanberraCath, I still check in on occasion - though I missed the big Peppa stuff. What a B..... she turned out to be hey? After my miscarriage I had to actually stop reading her posts because she was so negative about something I was dying for and to find out it was all a lie ohmy.gif

We're still waiting to be given the all clear to try again - I was really hoping to be pregnant again by the time our little baby was due to take my mind of things a bit but sadly it is not to be. Most likely we will be able to try again around Christmas.

As for labour - I've heard lots of great things about hypno-birthing. Apparently you can purchase CDs that you listen to before hand that help out. I think it is important to recognise that fear of labour can make it much worse - it is really important to trust your body and to start doing that before labour. Natural labour is not the be all and end all BUT being able to trust your body and not be afraid is very important. Sometimes that will lead you to a natural labour, sometimes it won't and it doesn't matter either way IMO (I've had one with an epi & 2 natural) but it is a much nicer experience when you're not frightened.

Mrs QB - I'm like you - knowing on one level it's all going to happen in 10ish weeks but the reality of labour or bringing a baby home have not sunk in. We have a birthing class on Saturday and my friend offered me some info on hynpobirthing so I'll see how I feel about itball next week. My current attitude is - let my body do what is was designed to do and get help (pain reliefvetc) if I need it cause if I'm in pain I won't be helping... Hope that makes sense.

Trisven - nice to see you! Good luck In the next few months. hhugs.gif

2sisters - I was planning on working til 38 weeks but I crashed emotionally last week (told I have a lump on my thyroid as well as a few other pieces of news). Looked at my sick leave balance and figure if I feel like it's too much I can leave 2 weeks earlier and still have 2 weeks in the bank when I go back after 9 ish months. We'll see. I just wanted to ease the pressure on myself for a start.

On that note I'm back to the hospital today to find out what they want to do about this lump. Leave it, biopsy it, whatever. I just want a plan. I can't handle not knowing the next steps (controlling much? rolleyes.gif )

So back later.

Tx

mamalillz congrats on the birth of your baby boy! hope he is still doing well, and is gaining lots of weight!

benevolence i have been told placenta is anterior, and borderline to being too close to the cervix, but i am completely confused with the kicks i have felt. the movements do not indicate an anterior placenta, so i am really confused as to where it is, if that makes sense? i have a scan booked in for 34 weeks, so will know for sure then, but still - its 4 weeks away. awesome you have finished work already, it makes it SO much easier when the stress of that is gone.

star so sorry you are going through all this stress sad.gif i really hope they can give you the results of your biopsy quickly so you dont have to wait around stressing too much. i completely get where you are coming from (and i DO NOT think it is being controlling biggrin.gif) cos i am the same with my anterior placenta - which is a non issue compared to yours - but i keep stressing about not knowing whether or not i can even have a natural birth. i feel like if i do need a c-section i need to get used to it, and most likely i will only have a few weeks to deal with it before it happens. hope everything goes ok for you today.

afm well, just got some good (maybe??) news. DF was supposed to be flying up to darwin for work today but his flight got cancelled, so he will be going next week instead. he was shafted to night shift a couple of weeks ago, so i had to deal with DD all on my own for bed/bath/etc. i know she could be a lot heavier than she is, but she feels really bloody heavy to me, and every time i pick her up i get massive pains in my tummy. it sucks cos really, there is not much else i can do, she is still too little (21 months) for me to not pick her up. so while it is good DF isnt going away today, he still has to go next week and i had fully prepared myself for it already. oh well.

we put DD in her big girl bed on saturday night, and she has been great so far. i am SO happy and SO proud of her.

other than that, just really tired. if i dont get a nap every few days i am ending up completely exhausted. baby girl doesnt seem to be kicking me as painfully anymore either, must be running out of room!

i cant believe our bubbas are so big - baby girl would be around 1.5kg now! have an OB appointment this friday, should find out my GCT was all fine, and have 34 week scan booked for 22 july (34+1) so hopefully my placenta will get the all clear.

Me post ahead - will read and update later....

So today was... Another drama. turned out the doc hadn't got the results of the ultrasound and I got to watch her review the file. not good.
The nodule is 2cms - anything over 1cm is not good. The next step is a biopsy - which the endo recommended I have about 6-8 weeks after the baby is born!!!! I asked why would I wait and she said "well if it's not good news, you can't have surgery til then anyway". Ok... But I'd know if its benign and if I don't have to worry at all or I can live wondering (and assuming the worst) for 18 weeks.

I decided I would rather know. If the results are inconclusive or bad I can deal with that. I can plan. I would ask my mum to stay longer or ask how we know how quickly it could get worse - if it's worth perhaps having bubs a few weeks early (not too early) and getting the surgery earlier..Whether / how the surgery would affect Breastfeeding....

Anyway all of this is moot -I'm booked in next Tuesday for my standard scan at 830, 30 weeks appt at 845 and biopsy at 3pm. Busy day. But I should be able to get the results on tuesday evening / Wednesday morning and know whats what!

It will be a busy day next Tuesday for you Star. I can't believe they wanted you to wait to get the biopsy done. Hope they will get the results to you very quickly.

Oh Star what a stressful time for you. I will keep all fingers and toes crossed that the biopsy comes back benign. I would have done the same as you. Try not to worry too much (easier said than done) and take it easy if you can. Thinking of you lots x

Jess - oh it's tough doing the bed / bath / dinner routine on your own!! Hope all goes okay with your scan in a few weeks - so many things we have to worry about!

Trisven - hello!! Hope the baby fairy visits you one day soon and you can share some exciting news with us. All in its own time original.gif

2sisters+1 - welcome to the group! Hope you get your sleep in soon!!

bebe - sounds like you have a busy few weeks ahead with your baby shower, classes, etc.

Katie - welcome to the group

Mamalizz - congrats on the arrival of Vincenzo. Awesome name original.gif Hope he's doing well - and you too. Hope you have lots of support around you. Please keep us updated.

Benevolence - oh so lucky to be finished work!!! I'm just a tad envious!

Everyone else - big hi!

AFM - All going okay here. My swelling is keeping under control although I noticed my feet were puffy last night - it was a long day at work (I was there for 12 hours) and even though I was sitting down, I think it made it worse. Off to go buy some compression stockings. Everything is okay with B2 at this stage, very active at night though. I am not enjoying being woken by kicks around 3.... and then not being able to fall asleep again! lol Have started making B2's mobile (owl theme) so hopefuly will have that finished by the time he arrives!
