I work in the city, so I have a lot of options available to me. I generally choose sushi/sashimi, sandwich or salad in the warmer weather, or miso/ramen/udon, soups, toasted wrap or occasionally a curry or similar in colder weather.
It looks like a few of these options will be out, but moreso the warmer weather foods which is handy coming into winter. But I don't think my choices are particularly 'healthy'. I like to eat a hot meal during the colder months, at the very least a toasted wrap or sandwich. Are toasted meats safe? I realise they'd have to be heated to a rather high temperature. What other options are there? I don't want to get stuck in a rut or end up eating creamy pasta or curries every day. |

Toasted meats are fine as long as they are toasted for a decent amount of time and not just warmed. Soups are fine I love pumpkin ATM. I am boring usually and have cheese and tomato sandwiches every day

I used to go for the salad bar option or sushi too, but as those are out I now have a lot of toasted sandwiches (you can ask them to zap any deli meats in the microwave prior to toasting the sandwich if that makes you feel better), soups, pastas or any other hot options. There are places in Melbourne where you can get a baked potato, and if you're careful about the fillings, it's a good option when hungry!
I'm finding that I am taking my lunches to work more often (good for finances too!) - I'll often make extra dinner and take the leftovers, or will make my own salads and add tuna, egg, nuts etc for protein. Speaking of which, I think it's lunchtime |

Just a word to the wise about eating pastas or curries from food courts - the vast majority of the time they sit around in bain maries for hours waiting to be served. I was advised by my GP to avoid places where food is stored in warmers or bain maries for long periods because the food is not piping hot all the time there is a chance you could get sick.
I'd stick to places that make stir fries or pasta fresh to order rather than ones that have been sitting around for hours. |
