Smallbump - that's so awesome! I'm so glad it is all confirmed. Also, wow, I didn't realise IUI cost that much per cycle - it's a bit pricey!
Babymurk - I hope you get good results this afternoon - keep us updated. You ladies are worrying me about IVF though - that's still a while away for me but still...are we talking $5k a cycle or something? I am taking my last increased does of clomid tomorrow (for this cycle anyway) and I'm looking forward to it. Does it make anyone else feel really queasy? I'm booked in for a US on Wednesday the 11th so hopefully it'll be successful. |

QUOTE You ladies are worrying me about IVF though - that's still a while away for me but still...are we talking $5k a cycle or something? Sorry don’t mean to worry you, it is just something that in my situation we may need to look into. I was sent some information from one FS clinic and it was around $6.5K with no upfront payment but then I was on the net that was around $4.5 - $5 but was upfront. Both did say that you get about $2k - $2.5k backNo I don’t get getting side effects with clomid luckily – I take them of a night time, not sure if that helps or not. AFM – Results from DH yesterday were fine, but mine of the other hand weren’t last month proges levels were 47 but this time there were 4. Estro levels on the other hand were higher this time, so the Dr said that it looks like I have growing the egg just not releasing and that we could look at possibly triggering them in coming months if needed. I told him about temps and being about 8DPO but he said that he doesn’t believe in that as it is so easy to misinterpret. I was told to wait a couple of days so a test and if negative then to start Provira(???) to bring on AF. Next cycle I am to go up to 100mg of Clomid from CD5-9. Do you ladies think that it is strange that I don’t get any scans in my cycles? |

Thanks Sassy Dingo: I'll pray for you
Babymurk: when i was with my Dr she has never scaned my folicules but with my FS is like a rituals. She really wanted to know their sizes and how many I produce each cycles. I think it does two things: it help you having more control on multiples babies, so let's say if you overstimulate on clomid you have the risk of releasing more eggs and might end up with Quad or more!! And the other thing is the scans normally occure on D7/8 and/or D10/12. the FS can judge by looking at the size of your follies on D7 if they are growing the way they should. And if not she can changed your dosage on the spot to ensure that on D10/12 you follies are mature for ovulation. I think you should have your follies scaned. About your progesterone I think you are like me. One month I'm good the other month I'm not. So maybe discuss with your FS the possibility to put you on progesterone supplement. They've got several brandes but i've used Pregnyl injections. Fantastic your DH is fine I hope this will be your month |

Hi Finger's Crossed, I think everyone has just had a break because of Easter - I only got back yesterday.
I've also got PCOS and I'm on clomid (75g day 2 to 6) and metformin. If your Dr gives you clomid he may give you metformin as well - metformin treats insulin resistance, which is thought to be the cause of PCOS. There are 2 options with the metformin - an extended release one where you take one a day and a 3 times a day one. The extended release one is supposed to have less side effects but I didn't have any with the 3 times a day one. You'll prob be started on 50g a day dose for clomid - it's the lowest and you'll prob have a blood test or ultrasound around when you should be ovulating to see if it works. If it doesn't work, you'll have your dose increased for the next month. Monitoring is important as sometimes clomid can work too well and you may suffer ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome, or you may get a large number of mature follicles and be at risk of multiple birth. I found the clomid made me feel pretty queasy - I've heard that taking it at night before you go to bed is the best time so that any side effects you get, you get while you're sleeping. Hope that helps! Smallbump: I hope you're intending to keep lurking around this forum - hopefully your good luck will rub off on us all! Hope everything is going well for you. AFM: I came back early from holidays to have my day 13 scan. Yay, I have 2 good looking follicles at 11mm and 12mm! My Dr says ovulation will prob be on the weekend sometime. While I was there the DR also requested a semen analysis from my DH - as he put it, why put all this effort into getting you to ovulate when there may be additional problems. Poor DH was mortified - we have this 'understanding' where we both pretend that neither of us masturbate so when I read the fact sheet to him about the proper method of collection he turned bright red! Poor Diddums |

Hi ladies
Thank you so much for the welcome - I think I'm going to need your advice and support in the coming months... So since I posted I have been to see my doctor to discuss my ultrasound and she has referred me to a fertility specialist in the city - first appointment I can get is in just over two weeks time which isnt long from what I hear but seems forever!!! I am also booked in to have a glucose blood test so they can work out if I am insulin resistant and then I will take all my results to the FS to discuss. Im hoping she will put me straight onto something rather tha monitoring a cycle first with blood tests? What was your experiences? Do you know if you have to have additional blood tests (the Day 3 and Day 21 tests) before you start on a medicated cycle? Will try and now read back over all the previous posts and do some personals but for now I see congratulations is in order for Smallbump and good luck wishes for Sassy Dingo!! |

Finger's Crossed: I went straight onto a medicated cycle, but I suppose anything is possible. I also don't have the blood tests, just the ultrasounds.
Sorry, I'm a Brisbane girl, don't have any idea of Sydney specialists. |

Fingers Cross: I think all the FS can help with OI & Clomid is just that you need to find one that you are confortable with. I can give you the Fs I'm seeing but it's south of Sydney - Miranda. Let me know if you want her info.
MyDH & I have blood testsHycosy. sperms, AMH & progesterone, glucose etc... tests before I could starts on clomid. This will help the specialist to understand your metabolism and adapt the medication accordingly. it's depend on your Dr/FS, some will use your first medicated cylce as guinea pig and other will do all the blood test before starting you on something. i think the most important thing it's that you're confortable with the directions your DS/FS is taking. There is no right or wrong Hope this will help - i hopes this your month ladies |
