pulse

so for thousands of years the chinese have been doing thing the 'traditional way'.. and as chinese medicine and remedies are becoming more popular i came across this picture describing how to detect the 'pregnancy palse'.. can everyone give it a shot and see if it's accurate?

sorry it's in chinese but the jist of it is the 3 lines that go verticle up your wrist are your pulse lines (lets call them left, middle, and right)... overlooking the other complex diagnostics you can apparently do lets just get to the obvious - are we pregnan??:

apparently left pulse is always strong but ignore that for this test.

however, if both your middle and right pulse cannot be felt you're not pregnant.

if your middle and/or right pulse can be felt then you are pregnant.

if the middle pulse only then you're having a boy, if the right pulse only then you're having a girl. if both middle and right exist but one strong one weak, then it's still a boy. if both are strong, then it's twins.

where there are 3 finger marks on the wrist picture represents the first 3mths of pregnancy and should reflect where you are in your pregnancy (ie when pressed, the pulse should be flt under the particular finger area).. they are represented by the 3 black dots.. each black dot that goes up the hand represents each next month in pregnancy, and so in theory, if you are 9mths pregnant then you should be able to feel a pulse in your middle finger at the top most joint.

so.... is this all true??

lets us know your test results!!

(edited) silly edit but please ensure you test on your left hand as per picture!

and make sure your left wrist is laying down (not held up cause looking at it won't help!)

and when you rest your fingers on your right hand onto the left wrist to test, ensure you only place it very lightly.. this is not a blood test, you do not need to press hard and choke the blood to make it 'show'.. the lightness actually should make the pulse clearer.

Strong left pulse, no middle pulse, weak right pulse. I've taken my pulse a million times & have never felt the right pulse! ohmy.gif

Don't know what I am having yet, very interesting! wink.gif

Hmm I can feel all three and I'm definately not pregnant....! Sorry to debunk the theory!

ETA - the middle one is the weakest of the three

My GP does this (she practises some other form of medicine, along with Western medicine), and she was adamant I am pg with a girl - she said I have "stong female pulses".

I'm keen to find out at our next ultrasound.

bubs10: as mentioned there are other complex diagnosis to do with this.. the scenario i put up is assuming at least the following:

- person is sexually active (edited to say) and fertile
- under 45yrs of age

and if all three pulses are felt but definetly not pregnant (e.g. having period).. then it's an indication of problems with period/cycles..

not mean to put you off saying you're not well just saying that it could mean many other things.. was just interested more to see if for those that are pregnant and know if it's accurate hehe..
