Hi all!

I just wanted to pop in and say Hi to everyone and thankyou for all of your support! biggrin.gif
I have made an appointment with the FS for next Tuesday to see where we go from here. DH and I have decided to use donor sperm if needed. On the upside 18 of my 19 eggs have been frozen successfully!

Goodluck to everyone here and I hope you get your BFP very soon!

It may not seem like it now Puffsgirl, but you're in a good position. I wish you all the very best at your next FS appt and I hope you get some answers and guidance to begin the next chapter of your journey.

(I've been trying to talk my DH into using DS for 5 months and the thought of doing a fresh cycle all over again scares the bejeezes out of me unsure.gif . I look forward to being in your position soon!)

brookstar,

I know what you mean about doing a fresh cycle. I hope I don't have to do one in the near future! The fertility clinic we go through has only just started freezing eggs and have just had their first baby from frozen eggs so that is a good sign.
We are very lucky that I do not have anything wrong with me and it is only DH. I really feel for the couples who both struggle fertility wise. sad.gif

I really hope your DH comes to a decision soon. I'm sure you will have a baby in your arms very soon.

Not sure what will happen on Tuesday. In past SA they have found sperm so not sure why there wasn't any found when they did a biopsy.

Well I don't have good news either I'm afraid. We didn't get any eggs today.

I am confused, so very confused. How can I have 8 - 10 good size follicles and then not get any eggs? How is that even possible?

To make matters worse, they said DH's sample was good so now I also feel like we went through this unnecessarily. They did IUI just in case they missed an egg or I ovulated one early. I don't consider myself to be in the 2WW because the possibility of that working is so remote. DH are going away for the weekend and I'm going to drink some wine.

Eight is our lucky number
Oh crap. Awaitingourmiracle, I'm so so sorry honey. It just isn't fair is it. That really really is frustrating. I also don't understand how this is possible. unsure.gif I know that not all follicles do not contain eggs, but I have not heard (sorry to be so brutally honest here!) if someone having as many follicles as you and not getting any eggs.

Did your FS say anything? When are you going back to see him?

I remember that they reduced your dose. I don't think that that would not have caused the eggs not to form though? What were your estrogen levels like? I cant remember the expected estrogen levels off hand, but I think its like 200 per egg???

Are you on your own? Does your DH have to go away this weekend? Where do you live? I will come and drink wine with you!!!!

Now on to your DH - how many SA samples did he have done prior to this? And what exactly did they mean by "fine"? I'm sorry, I cant remember what your DHs MFI problem was. Can you remind me?

Please don't say that this was a waste of time. If anything, this has been an invaluable cycle. I really don't mean to upset you, but there could be something wrong with your eggs?? The first cycle is always an "experimental" cycle. So don't forget that. I got one egg on my first cycle! After my second cycle (triple the dose) was cancelled, the FS realised that I had major egg issues.

Sorry if I sound like I'm lecturing you here - but it is just cause I care!!!! What I don't want you to do it to blame yourself for any of this! Think about it if the shoe was on the other foot. If it was your DH that had not had any sperm (sorry Puff!!!!) then you would not be beating him up about it would you? No, of course you wouldn't. So therefore you can not beat yourself up about it.

Babe, I'm so sorry that you have had to go though this. Its horrible, its unfair and it just int right. I can not imagine how frustrated, confused, sad, angry, upset you are at the moment. Please just know that we are all here for you and that f you need to yell, scream, cry, laugh, then please let us know.

Enjoy your wine!!

Thankyou so much girls, it means a lot to me.

Sorry, that was a typo, I meant to say that DH and I are going away for the weekend. We just booked it now, we are going to spoil ourselves. Thanks for the offer to have a drink with me Puddycat it sounds good, but I'm in Melbourne.

I did talk to my FS and she said that they don't know why they didn't get any eggs. She was very nice about it and is going to give me a call tomorrow when I can talk and think more clearly (it was a bit hard through all the tears). She told me to write down all the questions I have for her.

My E2 level on day 5 was 1020 and they were concerned about OHSS so dropped my Puregon dosage down from 125 to 75iu. On day 9 it had only gone up to 1100, and then by day 12 it had dropped to 700. But they didn't tell me this until today, instead the nurse said my levels weren't anything to worry about. mad.gif I'm sure it has something to do with it.

Don't worry Puddycat, I am going to ask if they are concerned about my ovarian reserve, or if it’s just a case of they dropped my dosage too low. She said that 75iu is usually the dosage the use for IUI.

DH has had two SA's, one showed 7% normal morphology and the second one showed 0% which is why we did IVF. Today we were told it was 10%, which is obviously fantastic that it has improved, but I'm now questioning this whole IVF thing.

Sorry for the long me me me post. Thanks for listening.

Awaitingourmiracle,

Hopefully the FS can sort out what went wrong and your next cycle goes alot smoother. I know that your first cycle usually doesn't work but it is so hard not to get your hopes up!

The other night i was thinking of how I would let both our sets of parents know we were pregnant. I try not to get too ahead of myself but sometimes it is hard not to!

It is great that your DH's SA is getting better! Whats his secret?

It must be time for some positive news for us MFI TCC couples!

I had decided today that we were not going to bother with children and we would be a bitter old childless couple for the rest of our lives! Than DH reminded me that we are very lucky as I can have a child and even though he may not be able to at least I can give him the gift of a child that I have carried.

I hope everyone is looking after themselves and I will keep looking in here to see how everyone is going!

Thats so sweet. How are you holding up Puffs??? Ive been thinking heaps about you. I told DP about your situation and he went quite green around the gills and quietly asked how your husband was?? Thats fantastic that they managed to freeze 18 eggs. Wow! Do you mind me asking what the thaw & fertilisation rate for frozen eggs is? I don't know anything about that side of it. How are you now the news has had a couple of days to sink in? Can I ask.........was he sick several months ago? This exact thing happened to a dear friend of mine. She had already undergone 6-7 rounds of IVF, and then they went in and her DH had zero sperm. He had been really sick several months before. And thats what wiped his count out. It went back up several months later. Sperm have a 72 day life cycle.

Bree - Welcome! I'm very sorry you find yourself here, but its lovely to have you here with us to share this ride. Ive had a couple of friends whose partners went through TSEA. Sounds a bit painful, but for both of them it worked. biggrin.gif So whats the next step for you?

Donna - Yay! What prompted the change of heart?? How did you go with your FET bill and Medicare? Thats a good idea to fly your mum in to help. Good thinking.

Brookstar - Lovely to see you babe! Sorry I didnt reply to your PM. Just been taking it a bit quietly myself! Ive been meaning to ask you.......are you still taking the DHEA???

Awaiting - Phew, I'm glad you aren't alone this weekend. I was worried there for a bit! Where are you off to?? Sounds like a lovely idea.

AFM - Well, I had my first scan today. Three follicles. So nothing to get excited about, but in my case there never is!! EPU will probably be Wednesday. I have to go back in tomorrow morning for another blood test and scan and he will make a decision then. it will either be Monday or Wed, but I want Wed, as last time my two eggs were immature, so I want them to grow another few days. I'm on Cetrotide injections now to make sure I don't ovulate. The good news is that all three follicles were about the same size - 10-12ml. So thats a positive. I'm hoping to get two eggs and that at lease one will fertilise.

Puddycat,

I'm doing ok! I don't think I have let myself grieve properly yet, but I am sure that will happen soon! This may sound bad, but I had initially resigned myself to the fact that we would probably need donor sperm. DH is ok, he has cried a little and is now trying to think positive. He is hoping the FS will have answers for us when we see him on Tuesday. DH is really wanting to know why they found 4 sperm in the last SA and then none in the biopsy. DH keeps on saying that maybe his sperm were at the end of their life cycle, me I'm not so sure! I on the other hand what to start looking for donor sperm. huh.gif

We do not alot about how well eggs thaw after being frozen. From the small studies that have been done, they find that usually 90% are good to use after being thawed. My fertility clinic recently had their first birth from frozen eggs so that is a good sign. I think it also goes on the quality of your eggs, so hopefully our's can be used when needed. There is still that little bit of hope that maybe we might be able to find some sperm in DH somewhere!

Goodluck with EPU! I hope you get a couple of really good follies! EPU is not my fav thing to do!
