My daughter Zoe has CP. She had a stroke at birth and has mild left hemiplegia. It doesnt affect her too badly. We are very lucky. She has trouble using her left hand and her left leg can give her a bit of trouble at times but she responds really well to therapy.
Anyway last year she started having seizures and was then diagnosed with epilepsy. She is having seizures about every 6 to 8 weeks. She is on Tegretol 2ml twice a day. Since her last seizure (last week) they have upped this to 4ml twice a day. She has focal seizures. So starts with a vomit, vagueness, eye flicking, arm twitching, whole body rigid and then full body seizure. It takes about 40 minutes so we have time to call the ambulance and get her to the hospital. We now have a letter from her pead that asks the ambulance to give the medazlin so we can try to avoid the full body seizure. I just wondered if anyone else out there had a child who has these sorts of seizures. How often do they seem to have them? Have they been controlled through medication? If so which one and what is the dose? Also have there been many side effects? I just find Zoe is a little more tired. She can be a bit cranky but she is nearly four and I think this might just be part of parcel of being a four year old girl. Thanks. |
