I've been sitting here wondering what the heck Chip could be a nickname for

or is it a "real" name

I know a 'chip' but his real name is Stuart. I think he got the nick because he is always so upbeat and 'chipper'.

Apparently he was given the NN as a child because he was a 'chip off the old block' original.gif

you reminded me when Pebbles and Bam Bam have twins they name them Roxy and Chip becuase of the same reason

it doesn't seem it's a spin on a name then

There was a character in the hilarious children's novel "I Wanna Go Home" by Gordan Korman but I have no idea what his real name was. Charles is my best bet.

Gordan...now there's a name you don't hear much these days.
