On the train last night coming home from work. Near one of the train stations is a public pool.

Two girls got on the train (about 15/16 yrs old) both just wearing those string bikinis & both carrying backpacks which was clearly full on stuff & probably clothes!

Is it just me but is this just so inappropriate?

They definitely caught the attention of the males in my carriage. Personally, they are just asking for trouble IMO. Not saying all men, let's me make that clear.

I would kick my two dds from here to mars if they ever did this when they are older

am I being a prude?

I just could not get over it! I was hot, but you can throw on a loose sun dress over the bikinis.

ETA: I don't live anywhere near the beach or bay. This is very much suburbia.

I don't think they were 'asking for trouble' but I think it is highly inappropriate. At 15/16 they really should know better.

If it were my DD's they would be grounded for life!

And no, you're not a prude.

when you look into the eye's of a child there you will find
it is sad that we can't wear what we want as men see it as a way in by what they wear,i would do the same with my dd. but really could they not have but a skirt on or some thing.

Just a minute, I'm combing my eyelashes!
I don't think it's appropriate to walk around (outside of pool/beach areas) in a bikini. The same goes for men who walk around in Speedos. It's like catching the train in underwear laughing2.gif .

Exactly what dippinsniffer said above.
I too, think bikinis are for the immediate beach/pool area. Otherwise, cover up. I also think guys should wear a tanktop or something rather than go barechested. & no I'm definitely not a prude.

I think it depends on the situation.

Train station? No.

Small beach town where the shops are down the road from the actual beach? Yes.

Kemisz said it quite well.

At home, also yes. I wander around in a bikini top and im 31 lol. (on the 40+ degree days)

On a train, hell no. I agree, that is asking for trouble.

You arent a prude.

On a tanget, I was at the beach last weekend and a mum and her approx 8 year old daughter were walking down the beach hand in hand, both in skimpy bikinis (the ones that tie up on the side) but the daughter didnt have the top to the bikini on. I'm only guessing that she was around 8 but it wasnt like she was a little young girl she looked mature (she was quite tall and maybe the sunglasses and hat made her look older).

To me this just looked so wrong and I worried about any weirdos on the beach looking at her.

Anyways, its a shame that in this day and age the innocence of children has kinda been taken away from them because we worry about weirdos (obviously her mother wasnt worried though).

Sorry to go off on a tangent but just thought I'd share.

Totally fine IMO.

I live in a beach suburb and it's a regular occurance to see girls/women in bikinis in the supermarket, eating at cafe's etc. but I guess it could look a bit out of place on a train if you're not used to seeing it.

lol, sorry but this made me laugh. You thought that looked wrong at the beach? I'm guessing you don't go to the beach much?
