Hi there,
we are lucky enough to live near the beach so on these hot nights at around 6.30 to 7.00 PM we walk to the beach for a swim. Our 3 yo loves to take all his clothes off and run in the water. I haven't got a problem with it.. as I did it when I was his age and loved it. Some of my fondest memories were of a small child at the beach... A woman stopped the other night and said.. "you know you should be careful of who is around".. I said I am always aware of my son's safety, never take my eyes off him and was in the Police Force for almost 20 years.. so I know what actually goes on.. but thank you for your concern. Why can't we sometimes just look at the innocence and joy of a little boy having fun. Kez |

I sometimes take DD down to the river in the evening and she'll strip off for 10 mins play in the water - I wouldn't do it if there were large numbers of people, particularly the older teens, younger 20s who congregate sometimes with their drinks. She can always leave her knickers on anyway

Wow,
such an emotionally provocative subject, linked from the front page of the Fairfax websites, and only two replies? What is wrong here? Where has the "peds under the bed&" fear gone? Give it ten years and every guy from 12-99 will be looking at your little girl at the beach. For about two seconds, until they see something else. Why bother worrying about it then, let alone now? thought you were going to tell me i shouldn't let ds go for a nudie run on the beach.
i love that he can do these things and fully enjoy himself, i am waiting for it to warm up a little more and i plan on taking him to the beach again. |

I find the swim nappies a god send for when we are going to the beach during the day when it is crowded. In the late afternoon/ early evening if we are outside in the backyard my children frequently use the kiddie pool with no clothing

My only issue with seeing naked kids at the beach is the lack of sun protection

I agree, Let the kids be kids. I let my DS run around the beach naked pretty much whenever he wants to which is about 20% of the time but often all the other kids are in swim wear so he wants to as well. I think we have to be rational about this stuff. |
