Just wondering what your thoughts are on giving babies Panadol (or something similar), do you? If so, when and more importantly, if not, why not?

Apologies, I am guessing that this has been discussed before but I can find the thread.

TIA

If I think one of my babies has needed or needs panadol I use it.

I'm not afraid of panadol. If my kids need it, they get it.

Depends on the situation of course.
If a baby/toddler is clearly in pain and you know that, particularly where they have a fever, why would you hesitate. Not based on guess work if they are crying, no.
Following that, if I had further concerns about what may be wrong, I would see the Dr, ASAP.

Used correctly and infrequently, it is not harmful for a normally healthy child with no adverse reactions to its contents.

It's more fun when you raise your arms up like this, ah haha
Being that my baby has severe reflux, Panadol is like my best friend....

I don't see harm in using it when it's clearly safe to use original.gif I figure it's just like us taking it, use it in moderation and when needed.

Up to each parent. As long as they arent overdosing or misusing it.

I personally mainly use it to reduce a fever, in a baby at around 39 degrees I tend to give some...my older boys I do the shower thing first then panadol if that doesnt work after aroudn 40 degrees.

Other than that I dotn really use it at all.

Its a situation by situation basis I guess.

I am a very reluctant user of panadol, and will only if my DD shows a fever over 38 or she is unsettled more than a few hours. So we've only used it half a dozen times or so in the past 9 months. In hindsight, I would have used it more through the 'teething process!'

Is tickerless
I use/used it when my child was in pain or had a high fever, and occasionally when I had tried literally everything else and I wasn't sure what was wrong (often teething was to blame.)

For those of you who restrict the usage of panadol, could you explain why?

I'm just curious as I have my reasons for not using it but interested to know other peoples reasons.

If my children are sick, particularly if they have a temperature, I will give them panadol. I'll also give it if their behaviour is very erratic and they are very distressed, and then I make sure I take them to the doctor, as this has generally meant that they have an ear infection.

I don't give it if they are just miserable and a little out of character. I've never given it for unsettled behaviour, as I have preferred to try other methods such as a bath when they were babies, or quiet time now they are toddlers.
