Hello,
I'm new to the Pre-TTC waiting room. My DH and I have decided to (hopefully) start trying in about November this year.
I like to be prepared so I'm on a mission to collect information!
Looking forward to meeting you and waiting with you all.

Hello and welcome, Bella Rose! You have a beautiful name. You and I sound as if we are in similar situations, as my DH and I are also planning to start TTC in October/November and I feel like I'm on a never-ending search for information about pre-pregnancy. I had my Implanon removed yesterday as it was almost at the end of the three year cycle. My GP also sent me off for some pre-pregnancy blood tests - just in case we have an unplanned accident before Oct/Nov! He also suggested taking a folate supplement (as a precaution), so off to the chemist I went to purchase this. My DH is very excited about starting our family (this will be our 1st), but as I am a primary school teacher we need to try and plan a little so that my delivery date won't be too disruptive for my class (I teach Year 1 in Victoria). Although I'm not planning on going back to work for at least 12-18 months, and then only 1 or 2 days a week, I don't won't to have to leave a class half way through a term - if we can help it! But, I guess as informed and planned and in control as I would like to be, becoming PG is not quite that simple!! Looking forward to catching up with you over the next few months! Donna (30) DH (30) Married March 2002 P.S. My husband is besotted with the name Bella and would dearly love to call his own future DD Isabella or Bella!

Hi Donna, Thanks for the warm welcome! How exciting getting Implanon removed. I think I'll go to the doctors in late July to get all the pre-pregnancy tests, it also leaves 3 months if I have to get a rubella booster and to start taking folate. 3 months seems to be the magic number for pre-PG preparation. My DH and I have only been talking seriously in the last week or so about family but I think that he's getting used to the idea. He makes comments everyday about things we'll need to do now for the future or in the future. I don't know how long it will take us to get PG. You can never tell I guess! Rosa P.S. My name is Rosa and I am hoping that we have a DD who we can call Isabella so that's where the name came from. Rosa was already taken

Hi Rosa and Donna, My DH and I have also decided to start trying for number one in October/November!! What an exciting decision!! I also plan to go to the doctors in about June/July, (as much as i am scared of needles. Although I guess I will have to get over that fear!) I have started taking a folate supplement just in case of any accidents also, however I wanted something with a little bit of iron etc in it, so I went with Fabfol, (I'm also not very good at swallowing tablets, so I found the smallest!) Hope to enjoy the pre-TTC months with you! Manda 22 DH 24 - Nearly 25 Married 13/04/02 This message was edited by mandaja on Monday, 18 April 2005 @ 8:48 PM

Hi there ladies,
DH and I were planning on TTC in July but have decided to start trying now.
What I did/do to prepare myself was, stregthen my back muscles and to start this I needed to put on some weight (I know, don't be hateful), I do Pilates and they are EXCELLENT, got into a great eating routine incorporating whole grains (this is meant to help greatly with fertility), drink butt loads of water daily and started a multi which has the exact ingredients as pre-natals, I also take caltrate, vitamin C and enchinacea (the enchinacea is to build my immunity).
Hopefully this will be helpful to you...

Hi there. I'm not sure exactly when we will start trying but I'm hoping it will be before October or November.
I've started folate and I'm about to begin trying to drop some weight (lots of weight, really. I'm quite a fatty!). I've started drinking as much water as I can stand, which isn't much and I'll be having my medications re-assesed hopefully next month.
I'm looking forward to the journey.

Hi Girls, USAmum thanks for your advice. I have increased my water levels, from about 1.5 litres to about 2 litres a day, and I'll tell you that makes a big difference!! I did buy a pilates dvd last year but struggled with it!! LOL, a very funny sight indeed, so I have started walking!! I have also put DH on a mulit-vitamin, although I do have to hand it to him every morning. We do eat fairly healthily(sp?) now, however will be cutting down on any junk!! Thanks again for your post, really helpful!! Suzanne - I too have to lose weight, not an easy task!! I aim to lose about 10kgs, I think I'll be walking a long way!! Have you started an exercise plan yet? Let me know how your going!! Rosie - Congratulations on your twins! Waiting 6.5 years, how did you cope? I would love twins, my DH has twin cousins (11), as does his dad and new wife (6). Maybe they are on the cards!! Donna - any results back yet?? Rosa - How is your mission going, found anymore info? Keep up the good work girls, Manda (22) DH (24) Sorry, had to edit, DH walked in just after posting and laughed at some spelling mistakes!! I am so totally addicated to EB! Anyway, I have to wait a few weeks for all the blood test results, as my job as a primary school teacher exposes me to lots of 'extra' conditions which I have to be tested for immunity against - e.g. 'slap cheek'. I thought I would allow 2 weeks before ringing my GP - hopefully everything will be fine. Coincidently, one of my beautiful Year 1's has just come out in chicken-pox, so I guess the whole class with now 'share' this. I'm pretty sure one of the blood tests was for immunity against chicken-pox! (Hope I don't catch them again....) On the topic of water consumption - it is so hard to drink by 2 litres a day, when I have to keep dashing out of my classroom to race to the toilet! My class is beginning to think that something is wrong with me!!?! Oh well, it will all be worthwhile in the long run... Have a gym membership, so I try and get there about 4/5 times a week for Body Attack, New York Ballet and Tummy, Hips and Thighs classes, as well as walking along the river for about an hour on Sunday mornings! Have also started my DH on a multi-vitamin, which I place next to his breakfast cereal with a glass a water (otherwise he 'forgets'!) A Blackmores customer service person also suggested he starts taking Bio Ace closer to when we actually start TTC. He has also lost about 5/6 kgs over the past few months and has been trying to eat healthier food! Still waiting for my AF to return after having my Implanon out, but it has only been 1 week since removal... Great to chat to everyone! Cheers, Donna

Mandaja - I'm going to be trying the 10,000 steps per day thing. I've got the pedometre and have worn it on one of my 'normal' days. I was shocked at how little exercise I do in the course of a normal day. Stupid office job...hehehe.
I think I might also have a look at weight watchers and see if it might work for me in view of the fact I will be needing to ensure good nutrition.
