Moving on ...
If you had half a day spare in Sydney, what would you do? Keeping in mind the kids will be with us - ages 7, 6, 3.

We're off on holidays at the end of the week - main part of the trip is NSW Central Coast, and Canberra. But we've got one night in Sydney - catching up with some friends in the afternoon when we arrive, but then the next morning we don't need to be on the road again till midday'ish.

Any suggestions for the morning? I was thinking of going to either Bondi or Manly? Any other suggestions very welcome original.gif

TIA.

Ferry to Manly and back. Or walk around the Rocks or Darling Harbour etc.

IF you go to the Rocks, there is a fantastic puppet shop there. Almost underground (in the cellar of an old house) with puppets dating back over 100 years from all over the world. It is like a museum and a shop in one. wub.gif

Definitely Manly over Bondi with kids - Bondi is a bit ho-hum and takes a train and a bus from the city, or parking is awful.

With Manly you get the very scenic ferry ride which is ten time better than the Bondi bus or train!!!

If the weather turns on you on the day, I'd definitely vote for the aquarium or the Powerhouse museum. We did the aquarium with our 8, 6 and 1.5 year olds about a month ago and had a great time. If you have a bit more time you could even do the ferry to Manly and then check out Oceanworld over there - it's not particularly huge so can be done in just a couple of hours easily.

The pick for my boys though would be the Powerhouse museum - we go at least once a year and they LOVE it! tthumbs.gif

Wildlife World (next to the Aquarium) is worthwhile too - and I say that as someone who went there expecting is to be totally pointless!

*nothing to see here*
if you're happy to spend the $$$ I'd go to the zoo for the morning, they open at 9am, so you could get a few hours in, you can get the ferry over there too.

Id go to Darling Harbour. The aquarium is lovely; lots of places to eat and drink around there. If the kids want to run around, go to Tumbalong Park and go nuts. Plus for the older child IMAX runs lots of really lovely movies. Of course, finish off the arvo at the Lindt Cafe in Cockle Bay. original.gif
