This thread will probably start to die down now, with Calisthenics well and truly over.

Yes very true we had our end of year concert on Sunday just gone. Our break up picnic is this Sunday and then it is all over unitl the middle of Jan when I have decided I am running a summer school for the last 2 weeks of the school holidays.

I have already sorted some of my routines for next year. In S.A subbies have folk so I have been looking through youtube for folk dances and have decided on highland dancing. (there are how to highland dance vids on youtube)

I have also had 6 girls ask me to teach them private lessons next year so I will sit down soon and go through a heap of music for those girls to give them each a cd with music on them to choose a song from for their solos.

Hi everyone

I am interested in putting my dd's into Calisthenics...I have done a bit of research and think it will be much better for both of them long term than dancing and gym. Plus I love the theatrical element to it!

Ella is 10 and Maddi is 7. We are in WA. Ella has been doing gym & ballet since she was 5 and Maddi since she is 3. They are both quite flexible and very competitive (especially Ella!).

Any suggestions on what team to join?

Thanks in advance xxx

Is there anyone that can recommend a group that offers what I'm after?

With school going back I like to be organised asap with activities because they usually all start at once!!

lilaestelle~ most of the Cali clubs in WA are the same for the younger years, some are A or B grade clubs but they usually have a few teams in each division so it goes on age and ability so I would go the club closest in your area and have a few free sessions and see what your girls think, you can see the Cali WA web Page here.

Our AGM is coming up in Feb, after we have started back, I was asked to be a Liason Mum but the mum from last year has decided to keep her position so I think I might go with fundraising. Last year I helped with costumes, sequining all those aestetic dresses!! But I am now working FT so will have to get organised!

Cate's also going to do Rhythimic Gymnastics as well as Cali and Swimming but swimming just for term 1. A few mums have said they are not going to start untill term 2 to allow swimming to finish and to save the girls getting bored? Normally (for us) Term 1 is skill fun, seeing where the girls are at, getting to know one another...and term 2 learning the dances, term 3 routines over and over, costumes and concert, term 4 skills training and wind up.

Should we start a Cali Roll call for the 1st post?

thanks hummingcat!

We live in Padbury so it looks like we could be going to West Coast Calisthenics Club - they train in that suburb! (well the group that Maddie would be in & Warwick isn't too far away for Ella). Can anyone give me some feedback on this club? Or send me a pm about it - what it's like, coaching methods, club focus etc if they don't want to put it on here??

DD is also looking forward to going back to calisthenics in a couple of weeks. It will also be interesting to see how many subbies there will be this year in her club. A few have moved to Juniors and only 2 come up from Tinies. I haven't seen anything advertised yet either.

maurie- do you know what section your subbies are in this year? Ours are in the same still.

DD was going to do summer school but today we had a funeral (FILs) and tomorrow we are getting our pergola finished. So I think we will just skip it. DD didn't know we were doing it she she won't know any different.

Hi Nicole waves.gif our subbies have dropped to Div 4 this year, I've never seen the other clubs in this div, so it should be interesting.
