What if I buy or win a new item that I decide I don't want - can I sell that?"

New items (with or without tag) may be sold occasionally.
This STRICTLY means NO more than 3 new items per month.
Anyone seen to be listing more than this per month may be seen as running a business, and may be banned from the trading rooms.

Can I link to my site, in which I'm also selling items that are on the banned list?

No, please DO NOT have items that are on our 'Cannot be sold' list also for sale at your site. This will be seen as solicitation and the post will be removed at the discretion of the moderators.

Can I buy & sell goods specifically for profit here?

No. The trading rooms are not to be used as a business. Items being sold are meant to be your OWN personal unwanted goods. They are NOT to be items that you have bought for the sole purpose of resale.

Can I place photos of my goods in my posts?

No. You should upload your photos to another site (such as msn) - and paste in a link.

Selling Second Hand Cots, Prams, Carseats etc.

If you are selling second hand baby items that must reach a safety standard to be sold, you as the seller are the one responsible for ensuring that your item meets current safety standards. Please do not sell items that are not up to current safety standards as you could be endangering the safety of someone else's child. All items sold should meet Australia Safety standards with no damage.

What is classed as a BUMP and what is not?

Please find below examples of a post by the member who started the thread which are classed as BUMP posts
Bump, bump-bump, bumpity bump etc
All yours I will pm you now
No worries I will pm you details for payment
Member name payment received
Member name items have been posted
Member name could you confirm you have received item
Member name do you still want this item
I have reduced prices
I have added some more items to sale
This item has now become available again

These sorts of statements are classed as bumping and this information should be PM’d directly to interested member/buyer and/or the original post amended to show alterations if within the 3 days of inactivity.

Examples of posts not classed as a BUMP
Postage would be $5.30 please confirm if you wish to proceed
Size is medium suitable from 8kg-10kg
I found they were a larger fitting than the size guide stated

These sorts of statements are fine to post in the thread and are not classed as bumping

If you need to update that things have been sold, you can do so in your original thread. Replying to the thread every day to add that things have been added or are still available is also deemed as bumping and posts will be removed. With 90,000+ members, we try and let everyone have the chance of selling their items. The new forums software allows you to edit your own thread titles by doing a Full Edit of your post, so if you add more items, you can also change your thread title to reflect this. Multiple threads in each area will be removed at the moderator's discretion.

What if I have finished a sale, and want to start another sale? Will this be seen as 'multiple threads'?

Please edit the first post in your old thread to say "SOLD or ALL SOLD & INACTIVE THREAD" - and wait for the thread to drop off the first page or it to be closed by the Moderator. This may take only a couple of hours, depending on how busy the forum is. Then you can post a new sale.

Can I place a link to my sale in my signature?

No, this will be treated as trading outside the Trading Room boards
.

Can I post in my state thread linking to my Trading Room thread?

You may only post a thread in your state forum linking to your item in the Trading Area if it is a large item not practical to post. When posting in state thread the title must contain only the the words Pick Up and the forum title, such as Baby Items, Household Items, Wanted, Clothing etc. The body of the post must only contain the link. Bumping in state threads is NOT permitted. Once the thread is started and a link placed, the forum moderator will lock the thread. It will remain open for view, but not replies. Pick up is ONLY for large items that are not practical to post, any other thread will be removed. All questions must be asked in the trading Room thread not the State forum thread..

Who is responsible for the sales on Essential Baby?

Anyone who buys or sells on the Essential Baby Trading Rooms does so at their own risk. Essential Baby cannot be held responsible for items that are not sent or not paid for.

Can I place a link to an auction on eBay or another Auction site?

Linking to eBay and other auction sites are NOT permitted on Essential Baby. This also includes in the Trading Areas with the exception of the Second Hand Good Wanted forum which it must not be the posters own auction. This decision was made last year based on member feedback.

How does the 3 strike rule work?

A strike is a warning to a member that they have broken a rule of the Trading Room as mentioned above (whether intentionally or not) . Members can receive up to 3 strikes before they are suspended from trading for a period of 2 months. All strikes are recorded against the members username and last for a period of 2 months from the date the strike is applied. After 2 months from the initial date of receiving the strike it will be removed.

Is there a place where I can ask advice on Trading in the EB Trading Rooms?

Yes, a Trading Chat area has been set up in the Trading Room for this purpose. A great place to visit for advice or to clarify a rule if you are unsure
