The simple acting of taking one meal together as a family is much harder than I imagined. My children are all young enough to be accounted for at the table, it's my husband's seat that is often empty.

This week Jacqui takes a look at family dinner time. Read her blog here. Do you eat dinner as a family?

We do every night (if we are all home at the same time).

I will admit that we don't always eat at the table though. We all have stable tables and eat in the lounge room. I know that probably horrifies some people but my kids aren't little anymore.

When they were younger we always ate at the table. They are now 15 and 8.

With out 3yo DS we have dinner together at the table or a the kitchen bench. The only exception is on Sunday night when we have a "picnic" in front of the TV (watching his choice of show) as a special treat.

We all eat at the table together every night, only excusing hubby if hes working late of course!

I would like to think we will continue to do... forever!

Its a great time to communicate and catch up on each others day/lives etc and just spend a bit of family time together

Can I have some more hours in the day please?
At the moment I eat dinner at the table with the kids around 5.30, DH doesn't get home til 6.30/7.
DS and DD are still little though. I am hoping that once they are older we can really have dinner together, growing up it was the most important time of the day in our family.

Probably once a fortnight or so we have a 'naughty dinner' (like pizza) in front of the tv. But DS knows very well that that's an exception.

I am lucky in that my husband is home from work by 2.30pm

We all eat at the kitchen table every night. Saturday nights we usually get take away though, and eat it casually around the coffee table in the lounge room.

I can't imagine not eating dinner together.

Don't have room for a kitchen table! It is used up by office things. The kids use a small table and always eat there. I eat at the kitchen bench usually. One day we'll own a nice big house to house our nice big table. (I wish!)
