a rolled sweatshirt makes the window soft
i love a particular girls name which is associated with a hair colour.... and as there's a slight chance that this baby could end up with 'ginger' hair, wondering if you'd brave this name?

both DP and i are dark-haired, but MIL - damn her tongue.gif - has some natural ginger colouring, and our only DNiece is quite a red-head too.

our son was born very dark, became quite blond for a while, but is turning darker. there seems to be very little chance that his hair will turn a shade of red at any point... but of course, that doesn't mean much WRT this pregnancy, does it?

wondering too, whether parents of poppies and scarletts considered hair colouring?

thanks in advance original.gif

Personally I don't think it's a big deal if you end up with a red-headed Scarlett. I'm sure there are girls called Ebony with all shades of hair colour.

Hi

I am a red head, my DS is brown and if this next one is a red I already have the name Scarlett picked out and have done ever since I was little and saw Gone with the Wind...

I have often thought if she will get teased at school but I suppose it will only make her stronger....hopefully !

Ginger is the only name i would not call a red head, Ruby and Scarlett are cute though.

Saying what others are thinking since 1978.
I wouldn't use the name anyway - far too nicknamey - but especially not if you have red hair genes.

Have you considered Virginia?

Clench your pelvic floor!
I don't know... DH has red hair and DD did end up with red hair. Names I pondered and rejected included Amber (only briefly tongue.gif ) & Vivienne - love the name but worried about the Young Ones Vyvyan association!

So we decided against any names which had a colour connotation.

Having said that I'm not a huge fan of the name Ginger, moreso since so many redheads (boys usually) actually get the nickname "Ginge' anyway.

Personally, I'd avoid names that people would automatically associate with hair colour. To me, to call a blonde child the name of black wood is wrong and slightly odd, same as meeting a brunette called Ginger or Amber. Again, this is just me.

I'd either use a name that the nickname could be derived from, or if bubs turned out to be a redhead (and lord knows that could take months or even years to see) just nickname them then! I think redheads are probably those most likely to cop a nickname as a result of their hair colour more so than any other (says the wife to a red head who gets Bluey at work, Red from his mates and got Ginger Megs at school - much to his chagrin I might add)).
