Hi

Its late and Ive just realised that for the school catering tomorrow I need to bake a cake which I need to give the ladies at school by 9am tomorrow morning.

I have no eggs otherwise I would be fine!! DH used the last few eggs when I wasnt looking and I have only just checked!!

So please does anyone have any lovely cake recipes that are egg free? It cant be slice it has to be a cake!! I have a lot of baking ingredients in the cupboard and I have cooking chocolate etc.

I think you can use apple sauve/puree in place of eggs

In a pinch, or with a good recipe, vinegar mixed with water or even plain run-of-the-mill soda can work as a decent egg replacer. For savory entrees such as a casserole or a loaf, try using 2-3 tablespoons of bread crumbs or oats.

Vegan egg free Chocolate cake. (from The Crone)


3 cups flour
2 cups sugar
6 tablespoons cocoa
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoon vinegar
2 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups cold water


In a bowl mix the dry ingredients. In a jug mix the wet ingredients. Mix them both and bake.
