Hi there

I was just wondering if anyone had used a Mountain Buggy Carrycot for their newborn.

This is my 3rd child. I used a Mountain Buggy Terrain single for my first with no carrycot - as it was very hot. I then had a Phil and Ted's Pram for my 2nd, as due to an 18 month age gap they both needed to be in a pram.

I am now thinking that I would like to buy a Carrycot/Bassinet to go on my Mountain Buggy to use for this next baby. I thought that it would also be useful when visiting people.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Mel

I loved the carrycot for my DD when she was a newborn. Meant I could look at her in the pram and felt more snug than putting her in the reclined Mountain Buggy.

We got heaps of use out of it as a cot when visiting people, also handy if you get back from a walk & bub is asleep because we can unclip it from pram and carry it straight inside without disturbing bub

Not sure where you are located, but I picked up my new mountain buggy yesterday and decided in the end to also get the carry cot, Baby Kingdom (located in Sydney) had 15% of them, so it was reduced from something like $299 down to $254... biggrin.gif

I used the mountain buggy without the carry cot and didn't have any problems. I bought a lambs wool pram liner and DD was very snug in it.
I am glad I didn't buy it - I used the money to buy the sun and storm covers instead.

I'm a mummy... Finally!
I am still using the carrycot with my 3 month old. It is wonderful! She actually loves it and we often use it for her to sleep in when we are visiting people etc. She also slept in it in our room for the first three weeks of her life (I was planning on putting her straight in the cot in her room but just couldn't do it straight away!).

Thank you for your feedback so far. I already have the pram and other accessories, so this is the only extra thing that I am thinking of buying for bub.

I missed out on one on Ebay at the weekend but they do seem to have quite a good resale value. Emma thanks for the tip but I am in Melbourne.

Out of everything I have bought the Carrycot is the best thing.

I had the Mountain Buggy pram already and was looking for a bassinette when we decided to get the carrycot. DD slept in it every night and if she was unsettled I could just wheel her to another room as to not wake DP and allow him to get a good sleep.

I would also put her in it to cook dinner or even eat dinner, she could see where I was, I could speak to her so she didn't feel alone and allowed me to get on with day to day chores. Makes it so much easier to hang out washing too as I just wheeled her whereever I needed to be!

Pity you're in Melbourne 'cas DD is spent her first night in her own cot last night so I no longer need the Carrycot cry1.gif . I'm gonna miss it for around the house but she's such a tall Little Miss grin.gif

Mel,
You may have already gone ahead and bought one (or decided not to), but did you know you can hire them in Melbourne? I bought one, loved it and think it's worth the investment but I am hoping it will last another 2 children. DS was in it for 4 months. I was guttered when I switched.

Thanks everyone. I got one from Mountain Buggy Directly. They sell directly from their Melbourne office in East Bentleigh on Fridays between 9 am and 12 noon and sell off new ex-display things etc. It saved me over $70 on the 2007 model.
