My parents are going to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary next year. We are thinking of giving wedding bans for both of them, but my dad is not a big fans wearing ring, my mom is. My dad only likes wearing watch, jewellery wise, but my mom doesn't like wearing watch. blink.gif

Any suggestions for special presents for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary? We (4 of us) will share the present, so a bit pricey would be no problem.

Thanks

Time goes tooooo fast some days.
Ummm tricky since there both akward with the jewlery department.

Unless u get your dad a watch (engraved with happy 50th etc.) and do the same for a bangle for your mum....you could try and get the bangle and watches to match (kind of). If the watch has a pattern u could engrave the bangle.

I cant remember what my mum did for my grandparents as it was a few years ago, but I do remember mum had sneaked around there house, found there wedding photo, had it "fixed up" and blown up, and put it in an expensive frame. It now hangs proudly in there living room.

Good luck.

What about organising a photo session for them to have some professional portraits taken of them together and maybe also if you and your siblings could be there too so then they could have an updated family photo?

If you had time and access to all their photos maybe you could do up a photo book for them - starting from their wedding day and then have photos right up to the present day.

The watch and the bangle sounds great idea.

I don't have access to their photos as they live overseas.Probably my sister can sneak into the house and take their best wedding photos and blown it up.

Family photos: sounds great idea. It's probably a compulsory.

Thanks for the ideas.
Still look for more ideas to chew on...

Maybe as they live overseas you could get together with your sister (so to speak) and put together a DVD of well wishes and memories over the last few years showing why they are so important to you? Your sister can get stuff from that end and you could get stuff from this end.....

A friend of ours did a professional put together of our wedding DVD (wondered why it took so long to get to us) with words printed on the screen and everything.

Everyone could be involved.

I have the exact same question, but my parent's anniversary is only a week away and I still haven't decided what to get. ph34r.gif

We've done the family portraits for my Dad's 70th birthday a few years back (and my sister is in a different state anyway so couldn't come). We've also done the wedding photo for their 40th anniversary. Mum wears only her favourite watch she got years and years ago and Dad has one that is not very old, he doesn't wear any other jewelery at all, but I think he is getting Mum a necklace and earrings. They are going on an anniversary trip interstate a few days after their actual anniversary (for 10 days or so, not too long), I was thinking about something for that, but keep coming up blank!

Anyone have any extra ideas??

what about a large mosaic photo - you can collect a whole heap of photos from their lives together and with you kids, pick one to have as the main photo then get them all scaned by a photo place with the program to make a really big photo (the main photo you picked) made up of all the photos.

I really like this idea and if i didnt already have a big photo from my wedding I would have it done with my wedding pics.

I do plan on doing something like this in the future for my DD - may be her 18th or 21st

Good luck
Anna

For my mum's 70th birthday a couple of years ago, we asked people who knew her - various relatives, friends and kids - to write something about her. We got lots of variations - some people wrote quite long letters, others a paragraph. We had a 'grandchildren's page', where they each did a handprint because most of them were too young to write anything.

It was really beautiful and she absolutely loves it.

There was quite a bit of work involved in getting the contributions - one of my sisters did most of that and, being the crafty one, put together the scrapbook. The rest of us (four siblings) gave her the money for the scrapbook and all the bits and pieces.

You could do the same thing for a wedding anniversary. It was such a personal gift and quite priceless.

I made a "This Is Your Life" video for my mom a couple of years ago and she absolutely loved it. She has watched it dozens of times and showed it to all of her friends. Good luck. - Victor
