Hi guys

I'm 29 weeks and for the last week or two I have been hungry all the time and can't stop eating!! I have put on 6 kilos so far, 2 of which has been over the last few weeks. I've tried really hard not to have a 'blow-out' in the weight department with this pregnancy as I did with DS. Anyone else the same? Any suggestions on filling healthy snacks/meals. Will this hunger end cry1.gif

Hi Rybeana,

I was just having a whinge about this in my DIG, and I am not even 10 weeks yet!! it is going to be a long hungry pregnancy original.gif You are doing well to have only put on 6kg. I put on 30kg with DS1. hoping not to repeat that!!! It's hard though with this hunger, it's not the kind of hunger you can ignore

Good luck

Jcroc likes dinosaurs.
Perhaps try drinking a big glass of water or other drink when you feel hungry, then waiting 20 minutes or so. Often, I feel hungry when I'm actually thirsty, or, when I've waited 20 mins, I've completely forgotten about wanting to snack anyway (I'm a real boredom eater).

Even a broken clock is right twice a day
I was like that with DD2 and I was really didn't want to put on weight with her because I put on a huge amount of weight with DD1 blush.gif

Some things I did to ease the hunger are:
Drink more water, if your not getting enough water it makes the hunger much worse. Drink a glass or two before meals so that you done over eat.
Have healthy snacks on hand. Have fruit and veg cut up in the fridge and pick at it threw out the day.
Exercise helps keep the weight gain at bay
Keep some crackers in your bag for when you go out so there is less chance of you buying something you "shouldn't" be eating
And having something naughty to eat (was obsessed with chocolate)every few days to make sure the cravings didn't get to me too much and I wouldn't sit down and eat a whole bag of kit kats laugh.gif

I get hungry frequently but I fill up quickly when I eat, so I'm eating small amounts more often. My favourite snacks are yoghurt, fruit, a boiled egg now and then, avocado on toast, cheese toastie etc. I also drink heaps of water (2-3L a day) and I really think that helps, and a glass of fruit juice or lemonade here and there. I've only put on 5kg in total, though I do a fair amount of exercise too!

Is working fulltime outside the home and inside the home!
Rybeana

You will be happy to know that I have gone from being able to exist on 3 coffees, 4 chocolate bars and 1 meal a day (seriously).

To know eating every 25 minutes. Luckily I haven't even put on 1 kg yet - I am sure it will catch up.

What am I eating -
*muesli in the morning with yoghurt and prunes (I have trouble in that department - sorry if TMI)
*heaps of fruit (like 4 items a day)
*water crackers with cheddar cheese and tomato
*I have gone off coffee, so for me it is iced chocolate (basically milo)
*lots of juice (half cranberry, half orange - is currently my favourite)
*And then (I know this is naughty) I have been getting the little prepacked chips/arnotts snack biscuits
*I also have a packet of cup a soups when I feel like something warm
*My main meals have practially doubled in size - lots of people are commenting. I love Indian food and Japanese tempura vegetables - and if someone comes on and tells me now that I shouldn't be eating them - I will cry1.gif

So please do not think you are alone.

Ryebeana,

The last week I have started to feel exactly the same! I have suddenly developed a huge apetite (and not surprisingly a large belly blush.gif ).

I've put on 7kg so far and was stressing a bit, but i got one of those email updates about pregnancy progress and said by 29 weeks weeks we could expext to have put on between 6 to 11 kg. So don't worry you are at the bottom of these guidelines!

I put on out 18kgs with my last pregnancy, so if i manage to keep my weight under the 15kg mark i will be very proud of myself!

I think i will certainly be taking on board some of the other posters suggestions...off to fill my water bottle up now!
