I am 5 weeks preg with #2 and put on heaps of weight around my thighs for #1. I want to know if anyone has any ideas the best way to loose it. I am just finishing breastfeeding now (she is 14 mths old) and am wondering if the breastfeeding made it so hard to loose.

Any suggestions?

Cheers Tammy

Hi

I started walking 45min 2 times a week and now 3 times a week, and in 10 weeks I have lost 5cm off my hips (and thigh area). I also am doing weight watchers so eating better.

Hi Tammy

From what I know, it's quite hard to lose weight off a specific part of your body - it tends to come off in an order that your metabolism/genetics determine more than anything...my Mum always complains her boobs disappear before her tummy shrinks! It's rather frustrating that we can't choose which bits to shrink first.

However, if you build muscle generally on your body, and get toned, that will help you to burn fat faster, and doing squats and lunges are both great for toning thighs and butt.

To reduce the fat you need to do cardiovascular exercise and watch your diet. Something like swimming is ideal when you are pregnant, and yoga and pilates are also great if you can find a pre-natal class. Pilates is known for giving a long, lean type of shape and building core abdominals.

I agree with Sammy that walking is also great. I tend to walk in winter months, but it's too hot now (unless you have the luxury of a treadmill in air conditioned place!) so I've taken to the water.

Good luck in getting your thighs how you want them original.gif

Just saying 'Dito' to what hito said. You need to do Cardio but limit heart rate to 140 or under when preg. Toning up with give you a better shape but cardio is the only way to lose the fat.

Good luck.

Thanks for your help. I am going to try and walk more often. I cannot do lunges, etc as I have bad knees (reconstructions on both years ago).

I am also going to try and get more motivated when it's hot to go swimming (indoors of course as I don't like the beach).

Thanks again.

Cheers Tammy

To Tammy

I have been doing aqua aerobics and find it is really good for the legs. It tones quite quickly and it is low impact as well.

Tammy - the breastfeeding if anything should have helped. We put fat stores down on our thighs specifically for breast feeding. If you don't breast feed it's supposedly worse.

The aqua aerobics sounds like a good idea to me. Or just go walking a lot. Go window shopping in the airconditioning original.gif

Given your bad knees, water sports would be perfect original.gif
I'm starting aqua-aerobics soon and really looking forward to it.
