I am looking for ideas on a 1st birthday party for a boy like themes, games, things to do .

any help would be great

I have always found 1st Birthday parties to be difficult to co-ordinate.
Does Kayden like the Wiggles or Hi5 or anything else like that. Maybe a Wiggly Wiggly Party. Lots of Wiggles music and I know you can get Wiggles wrapping paper and things like that.
None of my kids ever had a theme for their 1st Birthday. they all had lots of older kids (cousins/neighbours) at their party so I never really planned a theme.

Hi Leah,

I am currently organising one for my DS. He will gonna have a pooh bear and friends theme. I bought a pull string pinata from big w, costing $25. I will be having a pass a parcel and bought some pooh bear stuff like cloring books for $2 off reject shops. And the good old pin the tail of the donkey that I personalised using Eeyore. That's all I can think of atm, DS is too young and wouldn't understand those games but those were for older kids to entertain them.

We hard a 'farm' theme party for DDs first birthday. We held it at a farm and a spit roast for lunch. I made a farm birthday cake and bought lots of farm themed goodies (stickers, finger puppets, hand puppets, beanie babe style ducklings etc) as thank you gifts for the kids that came. We didn't have any games but did do a treasure hunt.

I just spent an absolute fortune on DS's first birthday - but it looks like it will be worth it!

We didn't bother for the 1st birthday as they honestly do not know or care. We decorated the house with some nice balloons which he loved and put up a happy 1st birthday banner, etc. We did however spent quite a bit on getting a designer cake made, which was truly stunning and delicious. I suppose if we had small children who were attending, it would have been a different story, depending on how many were attending.

I know he wont be able to remember it but as an adult now i Love looking back at photos of my 1st birthday and all the work mum and dad put into it it is special, the games etc are more for older kids and big kids at heart (like me )

is it possible to hire farm animals in QLD actualli just rang old macs and its $320 for 1.5 hours

We feel the same about Ella's. The only kids coming are an 11 mth old and a 14 mth old and the rest are adults, so games and themes are not needed. Thank goodness! It sounds exhausting what some of you have done or are doing! Guess I've got all that to look forward to in the next couple of years.

We are not yet 6 months but I already have the idea for a good old fashioned Teddy Bears Picnic. Many of the adults I know still have there favourite teddy bear and we have all been talking about the food we had a parties when we were young so we are going to do a step back in time while the bubs are young enough to not know that the party is really for us disgused as kids one.

I think 1st birthdays are more for the adults! For my DD we just did family and people met through mothers' group (who have now become her best friends). We didn't do a theme and I made a cat cake as she loved cats at the time. We went to the local park so that any older kids could just run around and play. We will be doing the same sort of thing for DS. Simple yet enjoyable. IMO, wait till their older and will appreciate all the effort you put in to do themes, party games etc.
