Hello,
My DH and I can't decide on a name for our baby......that's always the way...heehee Boy: Nate Christopher (Christopher is my dad) Phoenix Girl: Demi Jewell (Jewell is my middle name) Portia We like 'different' first names and a family name for the middle. Our first born is Jyi Felix (Felix is DH's grandfather). Your advice would be great! Thank you. This post has been edited by JJV: 20/07/2007, 02:02 PM |

I really like Nate Christopher. Your girls names are NMS but I would probably pick Portia out of those 2.
I am the same in that I like family/significant names for middle names even if they're not names I would otherwise use/like. |

Plainjayne - I agree. Nate Christopher and Portia Jewell (pronounced Porsha) are my favourites.
My DH picked Jyi Felix and I loved it, however he wanted Felix for the first name, and I said NO! |

Of your four choices I only like Nate Christopher.
With your second boy name I would spell it 'Phoenix", the current spelling looks like a typo. IMHO, your girls name are a little too "Hollywood" and NMS, especially given the middle name. Kami. |

Your names aren't to my taste - and I'm not sure I'd say they were 'different' per se, more that they seem quite celebrity-influenced... (I instantly think River Phoenix, Demi Moore, Portia de Rossi.)
Nate Christopher - I like this best, but much prefer Nate as a nickname for Nathaniel. Phenix Joel - the correct spelling is actually Phoenix. I really dislike it as a name, sorry. Demi Jewell - really dislike this, sorry. It just sounds trashy. Portia Jewell - I prefer Portia, which is quite classic. You know it means "pig", though, right? (A lot of people don't care much about meanings, but thought I'd mention it as I wouldn't want you to use the name and then get a surprise!) |

Hey, not need to be rude. Jewell is my middle name and has been around in my family long before hollywood.
Yes, it was a typo - Phoenix I've loved Demi since I was a little girl, and I have only recently heard of Portia....I think I must have been hiding under a rock cause I had to google the names to see who the famous people are I think Nate is a winner. And I don't think there are any famous people called Nate. I think if I was to pick traditional names then everyone would say that 'everyone else's baby's are named that'...can't win |
