Need some opinions from all the trustee EB'ers

My DD is 13 months old. She has 4 teeth on top and only had 1 tooth on bottom. However she has just cut a second bottom tooth but its not where it should be!

Instead of being next to the bottom middle one (in line) its sort of behind and overlapping. (very hard to explain) OK imagine 1 left bottom front tooth, now imagine a few mls back diagonally and thats where her tooth is. More in the back of the gum then in the top of the gum IYKWIM.

Can anyone understand what I am on about? LOL

Anyway what would you do about it? Would you be concerned? Would you see a Dr? A Dentist? Leave it a month or 2 and see how it starts growing as it has only just broke the skin.

FWIW my eldest DD had problems with teeth coming up in the wrong places. With 1 tooth appearing in the floor of her mouth right back under the tongue. When we first discovered it we thought it was bone but xrays comfirmed it was a tooth.

In the end the Dentist had to pull the baby tooth out where this new tooth should be and then the tooth disappeared under the skin and made its way to the right place.

However MissE doesnt have teeth there yet to pull out.

My feelings are take her to a dentist but not sure how they would deal with a 1 year old but DP is more inclined to wait a month or so and see how it is as it grows a bit bigger.

But then I think "What if I do that and then get told if you had come in earlier we could of fixed it but now we cant" LOL.

Oh I really dont know. I might try to take a pic of it (not sure if it will work) as it really is hard to explain what I am on about.

I would tend to leave it a little while and see if the tongue pushes it to where it should be.

Daniel took a long time (months) to lose a bottom middle wobbly tooth. His new tooth erupted before the other one would fall out. So it came up behind the old tooth and I was worried that it would stay there out of alignment with the other teeth.

We were all due for the dentist so it forced me to make the appt and take him along. The dentist said as soon as the old tooth falls out the tongue will automatically push the tooth forward to where it should be. I was amazed at how quickly it happened too - within weeks it was where it should have been.

Kegs I reckon she's just getting her teeth out of sequence. Must be an 'Emily' thing as mine did it too. All came out of order completely but now she has a dead straight row of pearly whites and I'm sure your Little Miss will too. If not you'll have to can the ASG Uni fund and start chipping in for her future othodontic bill ~ kids, do they ever stop costing us money? LOL


Oh and I would cart her off to the dentist at about 18 months anyway, good for familiarity as nothing worse than kids/adults being frightened witless by nothing more than a trip to the dentist. In another 5 months it would show more clearly also what her teeth are planning on doing whereas now can't see what a dentist really could say IYKWIM? Oh actually yes I could. It would be something along the lines of "Thankyou Mrs Gxx for your visit today with Emily, that'll be $110.00 and shall we make another appt. for 8 weeks to discuss how she's gone? Oh now will that be cash or Visa?"

Will wait a while and see how they go but might mention it when P and I go for our dental visit to have a good ole polish. Thought I would treat us to it since giving up the fags. Give us a nice new smile hey.

Sorry without trying to hijack your post..but would anyone also have some Dental advice for me also?
My DD is nearly 10mo & her top teeth(3 in total)have gaps,now the two front ones has an enormously noticable gap.
My question is this...do i have a dentist look at them now or not worry too much as it is her first teeth iykwim
I just don't know if her first teeth are gonna be any indication as to what her 2nd teeth will come out like.

Anyway,any advice would be helpful as i don't really know which way i should go with the tooth thing.
What would you ladies do?

Michelle - my DD1 had that as well, and I thought 'bugger.. braces here we come' - but they've moved in closer as she's grown, and my MIL pointed out that her second set of teeth will be 'bigger' so she should have a nice pearly set

I wouldnt worry about them with the baby teeth.. and by the time the second set come through, you will be having dental check ups and am sure they would yell out if they thought anything was amiss.

I was worried about my 18 month old, she had teeth pop up everywhere. She had molars before she had bottom teeth. Her teeth are fine now, I would leave it for now and see how she goes.

Yeah,thanks for that.
That was what i was thinking,but you just never can be too sure iykwim.
First teeth aren't always any indication of what the second set will be like.

Hi Michelle

Its actually good if there are gaps present, as the secondary teeth that will come through in place of the primarys are larger, so they need the extra room.

My youngest DD has no gaps, and is just starting to lose her first few teeth, and will most likely be like me and end up with braces. Where as DD2 has gaps, so her teeth will probably come through in sequence and nice and straight.

Keggsie, I used to see a lot of what you are describing at the surgery where I worked, and over time the tooth will usually move of its own accord, or the secondary tooth will come up in its right place and the primary will still be there....in that case it will be extracted, but they quite often come out on their own
