There was a UK mini series in 1980. Someone called David Rintoul played Mr Darcy and Elizabeth was played by the same woman who played Camilla Parker-Bowles in the Diana story.
imdb.com - search pride & predjudice I haven't seen the BBC version yet but I've always preferred Mr Knightly to Mr Darcy. |

I haven't read the book but from the description the other posters have said, it sounds like the movie casting was quite accurate.
In the movie, Wickham is quite a good looking chap, and I thought Jane was very pretty. Though is Bingley suppose to be handsome? Because in the movie, I thought he was just alright. Will be getting my BBC series soon, can't wait to see for myself why Colin Firth makes such a good Mr Darcy |

I forgot to say that Lydia is actually named after the scallywag sister who elopes with Wickham. Cheers A |

I purchased P & P from the abc shop (The one with Colin Firth in it), and I have too say.......Woa!
It was just fantastic! Took me about 3 days to watch it in full because of constant interuptions, but yes, I can see now why so many of you are rapt with this version. Qusstion? What was the revelence of the shot of Lydia in bed with her husband sitting on the side of the bed, with Lydia's foot rubbing his back? It was just a quick shot at the end of the movie, was it to show her Fall from Society, or fall from grace from her family? I am probably wrong, but if some-one could enlighten me please? I also ordered the new version with Keira in it, as well as "Sense and Sensibility" - the one with Kate Winslet. Both of those should be arriving tomorrow. I am also interested in Emma. Has anyone seen that? The one with Gweneth Paltrow in it? Looking forward to a rainy day when I can snuggle up in bed with a box of choc and Mr Darcy. And, I just realised how stupid I am! Colin Firth is Mr Darcy in P & P, and he is also Mr Darcy in Bridget Jones's Diary. Silly, silly me, not making the connection! Chow Kat |

I too was very shocked to see thread no.2! Hmm I got an email from the ebay seller, and yes he found my payment but i will have to wait until later in the week when he gets more stock in, i kind of thought you would have it allocated to the sale you were making, doesn't seem right.. and also it mean i have to wait!!!! Hmmmm, maybe i should pop over to the video shop and hire it if they have it..
Kat.. I have seen Emma and really like it, I Love Mr Knightly.. yummo! And also I have Sense and sensibility (LOVE IT!) |

I was surprised to find that I really enjoyed Gwynneth Paltrow's version of Emma. And loooooved Mr Knightley.
shangobunni, which EBay seller did you buy from? Might have been the same guy as me. I haven't watched Sense and Sensibility for years, might have to get it out again. Am planning to buy Emma next time I see it. Couldn't you just slap Lydia? See, noone has ever played her as well as Julia Sahwahla (sp). I want to wipe that silly smirk off her face, and shut her the hell up! Which, I think, is how we're supposed to feel about her. I don't think any of the other Lydia's managed to quite "Get" it, IYKWIM. |
