Hi
I am thinking of going to the Movies to the Mums and Bubs session with my 9 week old DD. Can anyone fill me in on their experiences - good or bad?? Do you take your pram in or leave it outside and hold bubs - how noisy does it get? that sort of thing.

TIA

Don't wish it away, don't look at it like it's forever
Hi there

I have been a few times with DS1. I brouught in my pram so that he could sleep, which he did. The second time I went the movie soundtrack was very loud, louder than usual. We complained and it was turned down. There were some babies crying etc. but you really don't take any notice, it is just nice to be out and about and at the movies. That's why they have these sessions so that you can feel comfortable taking baby along.

I even bought fantails!

I love someone with Wolf-Hirschhorn Syndrome
Can't help you as I am planning to take DS to his first ever movie (CARS) next week. Am hoping to go to the Mums and Bubs session as well.

Depends on what cinema you want to go to. Go into the Village website and they have a list of movies screening for the Mums & Bubs sessions (I'm going on Wednesday). I don't think Cars is screening though, and there are no sessions over the school holidays. Movies normally start at 10.30am.

HTH,
Sam.

I love going!!

The first time I went, DD was 4 or 5 weeks old. She slept through it all. I took my pram in and she sat next to me (the theatre had disabled seats..)

Second time, I just went up to the next level with the pram... She was watching... She was about 4 months old then..

I'm going next Thursday (hopefully... its only $9) to see "the break up".... Hopefully she will be good then too, because I really want to see it!!

My first experience was at Hoyts Penrith, and now Hoyts Blacktown does the Mums N Bubs sessions, so its close to home.

I went to the one in Balwyn when my son was 10 weeks old. I was very pleasantly surprised to find not one single other person turned up so Dylan and I had the whole picture theatre to ourselves! smile1.gif Now he's nearly 10 months and my daughter 3 1/2 forget it, neither would keep still tongue.gif

I used to go all the time to the Hoyts Mum's and Bub's sessions and have only had great experiences, does get noisy but didn't take much notice either did DS as he slept most of the time.

hug a nurse today!
Oooooh you will love it!

I used to go every week - I would do a top up feed as the lights went down and Ryan would (generally!) sleep through the entire thing. I would then be free to drink my DC and munch on my M&Ms and put my feet up for a couple of hours.

I took him in his capsule and put it on the seat beside me or I took him in the Baby Bjorn sling - he hated his pram at that age so I found he was more settled this way. I did take the pram in once and just sat in the back row and parked him behind me.

You will find that they turn the volume of the movie down a little so the babies aren't frightened, and leave the lights on slightly too.

Wish I could go now but it would be the opposite of relaxing these days! Ahhh the good old days before Ryan was mobile..... tongue.gif

Have fun!

Job Title: Chief Memory Maker
Just wanted to add - it might be an idea to check with the cinema about taking prams in. I've only been to one session at the Nova in Carlton, and they make you leave prams in the foyer due to fire escape regulations. I had to hold DD the whole time which was a nightmare as she was due for a nap but was too big to sleep in my arms, and the floor was sloping and too uncomfy for her.
